My wife and I just returned from our stay at this lovely little B&B. We currently have a son that is getting chemo treatments (he was at a camp for cancer patients and his little brother was there with him this week), so my wife and I have had little time for ourselves. She wanted a few days of beach time while they were at camp.
After having troubles at a different resort hotel, we were able to get a refund and set out to finding a nice, quiet place so that we could have some much-needed relaxation. We stumbled upon their website and called. We called and were informed they had an oceanfront room available, so we drove over and checked in.
The room is adequately sized - similar to what you would find in most decent hotels. The bed was comfortable. The small refrigerator was stocked with a few items and we added some of our own choices. The bathroom on the oceanfront room includes a large jacuzzi and toilet with its own door, and an adjacent area with a sink and large mirror. There is a very large closet, as well.
There are four very large, floor-to-ceiling windows facing the ocean - including one of which is a sliding glass door. The balcony is spacious with a couple of chairs and small table and an amazing view of the beach.
The breakfasts were amazing each of the three mornings we were there. We enjoyed sitting and watching the huge waves roll in while enjoying some of the same delicious meals that another reviewer mentioned. Tom and Joan were amazingly hospitable and had many stories of local lore for those that wanted to hear about it. I really loved hearing some of the history of the area. They are very knowledgeable of the local history and had some great recommendations for local cuisine and activities.
There is no problem with the access to the beach as another reviewer mentioned. The entrance to the walkway to the beach is less than 30 steps from the front door of the home. There is also a shower head at the end of the walkway for cleaning the sand off your feet and body. The fact that it is a public access is petty and a non-factor. Also, the fact that they do not allow children is a good thing. There are plenty of places for families to go around Jacksonville. This B&B is designed with adults in mind, and I appreciate that. Newlyweds and others looking for a quiet getaway will appreciate it, as well.
I think one of the greatest compliments you can give to a hotel or B&B is to say that you would definitely be going back to that same location. My wife and I have already decided that we will be returning for our anniversary next year. We loved it that much! We loved the accommodations - we are not looking for something fancy. The location of Pelican Path was perfect for beach access and getting around to restaurants and other attractions. And Tom and Joan were amazing hosts. They were extremely flexible and reasonable in accommodating us. Great food, great location, great view, great access, and great hosts make this a highly recommended place to stay.
