“Amazing!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2010

My wife and me were looking for a nice beach front hotel when we found this one online. The price seemed quite high but we really wanted a beach front hotel and after looking over some of the other hotels this one seemed best. Overall the hotel looked very nice from outside, when we got to our room we were amazed. The room overlooked the ocean and the pool, you could hear the surf from our room. We stay in alot of hotels, about an average of at least 1 hotel a month, this room was the best we have ever stayed in. The bed was simply awesome, we forgot to ask but was some type of memory foam. We only stayed one night but wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will go back again!!!

We arrived Sept. 1 and stayed through Labor Day, checking out Sept 6. We had a room by the pool, and we could see the beach. Since the hotel is on the beach, it is built to hurrican standards, so the doors and walls are thick. We never heard anyone next to us, or at the pool! The families at the pool were very hands on with their children. No one was unruly. The staff was very helpful and very responsive. The bathroom door squeaked and w-d40 was applied in less than 5 minutes! The breakfast special of $11 for 2 people was wonderful. Fresh omlets made to order, lots of fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. Excellent value. The maintenance staff did an amazing job on keeping the grounds clean and neat. You had to have your room key to access the pool and to return from the beach. No one held gates open for those that were not guests. If you had a car to park, you were given a permit. We always had a place to park, usually by the front door.On Sat. and Sun. afternoon there was a guitar player at the pool playing acoustic and electric guitar. He was great. The beach was beautiful too. I was very impressed.

Jax beach is so over priced I find it hard to believe locals stay around their! The property is shared with the Fairdfield across the street! No Parking to be found, Pool over full at all times!! To many kids not being supervised. During the day the parking lot is full of "beachgoers" not hotel guests. A VERY POORLY MISMANAGED HOTEL. NOT WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MARRIOTT!!

So disappointed in this hotel!! First the few things that I liked. Great beach, rooms are nice and the staff at the 2 bars and at breakfast had great service. Parking is a nightmare, we had 3 rooms and only 2 cars and could NEVER find parking at hotel!! We had 2 oceanfront rooms and 1 oceanfront suite, so were paying a nice bit of money to stay here, boy was I shocked to find out the guests staying across the street at their MUCH CHEAPER "sister" hotel had access to all the amenities at the Courtyard!! Both hotels were full so this was a nightmare!! You could not even use pool, it was always full, people had large rafts in it, boogie boards and even though it said no drinks or glass a group was in it drinking beer out of bottles. I have teenagers so I was not that worried about them getting hurt, however if I had smaller children I would not have let them near the pool, kids were doing cannonballs from all sides and almost landing on people! There was absolutely no order at pool or even anyone ever coming out to check on it. It says max bathing load is 35, and there was usually well over this, the pool can not handle the use of 2 resorts. The place was like a zoo, it is not fair to the guests who book a oceanfront resort and pay oceanfront prices not to be able to use the pool or find a chair at the pool, because people who are not staying there and paying much lower prices are taking up everything. Oh yes they say who need a key to access the pool and come in from beach, there is no one overseeing this, we sat there all afternoon and watched people come up from beach and wait for the gate to open and come in, we even saw some reach over and hit the button to enter, climb the fence and even asked a worker to open it because they left their key, and they did no questions asked!! You do not have to sign towels out so everyone just takes what they want and towels are EVERYWHERE and this makes it hard for them to keep up and have towels always available!! When I tried to address my concerns about the safety of the pool to the front desk, I was told the pool was for use at your own risk!! When I addressed the parking issue and that most cars did not have parking passes, I was told the only check the parking lot at night, well it was during the day with the beach goers who were parking there!! When I could not find parking at either resort, they told me to park in the public lot!! I have NEVER been to a hotel that was so mismanaged! So beware you are literally sharing this hotel with everyone near it!! We have family in area and they were so embarrassed by recommending this hotel!! This is the first time I have felt the need to write a negative review to help other travelers, I usually just do not go back to a place and I vacation at least 4 times a year.

We chose this hotel for its location to the beach. Front desk staff were very welcoming and very helpful in helping us determine activities and how to get around. The rooms were well appointed although the mattresses are too firm for our taste with a large flat screen tv, coffee maker and fridge. Roomy, quiet, and cozy. Our balcony overlooked the beach (which is what we booked) and had a table and 2-chairs. An early check-in was accomodated. Centrally located to Jacksonville proper and local restaurants (i.e. The Triangle) we enjoyed dinner in the area. The beaches are very nice as well. Disappointed that at least a continental breakfast was not included in the rate but this time we desired the location and not the cost.

This hotel has a great location, really nice people working there and perfect amenities but the BEDS ARE HARD AS A ROCK!

I dont mind paying a little more for a decent bed. This was like sleeping on a box springs. Just awful.

The bad beds made this stay, that had a lot of pluses, a place that I would not return too. You need a good nights sleep.

We stayed here last night and wish we could have stayed longer. They me all of our needs and special requests. The location was perfect we stayed in room 332 which was ocean front and right by the pool. We enjoyed our bottle of wine on our patio it was great. It was steps to the beach. The breakfast was good, but if you want an omlette you better get in quick. There's one guy making 3 at a time,I would stay here next time I was in jax beach.
