We have been vacationing in the Redington Beach area for 16 days and have been to several wonderful resturants. Yesterday we decided we wanted a good seafood dinner. I looked online to try to find a good place to eat. There were many great reviews written about "Guppy's" so we decided to go have what was supposed to be a great dinner.
From the time we walked in the door to the time we left our experience was awful. Our seats were ok but the air conditioning was WAY too cold. I was willing to ignore it but my kids were freezing. We sufferend through our meal hoping the food would be better than the enviroment. The menu was on the expensive side and for good fare I dont mind spending the money. Our waiter reccomended an entree "The Sunset Trio" It's no wonder at retail of more than $22.00 a plate they were recomending this one. It consisted of VERY small portions of three of the resturant's supposed best entrees. Due to the miniscule portion size I'm sure the profit on that plate is astronomical and thus highly reccomended by staff. The scallop was a bit overdone, and the fish was ok at best. It was served with a coleslaw that tasted like a school lunchroom leftover and snap beans that were a tad underdone. When I recieved my bill I was surprised to see they had also added a 15% gratuity to the bill. I always tip 20% but when a resturant thinks they have the right to add a gratuity thats all they will get. I have had a much better dining experince and food from our local Bonefish in Virginia and expected much more from an Ocean resturant in Florida that specializes in Seafood & Fish. Stay away unless you enjoy paying stratosperic prices for food that leaves you unsatisfied, disastisfied and ready to leave and never come back.
