“Florida's best kept secret”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

This is how I remember "Old Florida" the charm and casual attitude. The staff makes sure you have anything that you could possibly need. The location is awesome on the beach with a heated pool. Just a few minutes after you arrive you can only imagine that this is your home and the people around the pool or picnic tables are part of your family. And if you don't wish to hang out with your long lost cousins they won't even notice as you come and go as you please. Easy walking to shops and close to causeway. Clean and great value.

Teena and the staff at the Great Heron Inn was Absolutely Awesome. This was our first stay but will not be our last. Everything you want is right at your doorstep. We loved that the beach was right outside the door. The rooms were very clean and up to date. Did not have a motel feel. It felt like you were at a family reunion. At night the folks that stay at the Inn all come out for a beautiful night of scenery and conversation. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the kindness and love that is put into making us feel comfortable. One of the last and best (old style...not a condo) beach inns in Florida. Thank you Teena and staff for making our 26th Anniversary something special.

I have stay at this motel for 1-2 weeks every year for over 15 years. Teena is like a second family to us. I have kept this tradition where as i am not bring my children to stay when my parents take their trip. We have NEVER had a bad stay! The rooms are always clean and fresh. I love the extra pillows and blankets that are always available. It is perfect for any size family and feels like home. One of the few places that gives out extra towels especially for the beach and has lounge chairs and sand toys for the kids.

This is not your typical fancy place, but it is clean and extremely comfortable. The location is perfect. It is an easy ten minute walk to the village and restaurants. Step out your door and you are at the beach. The building is older, but has received loving care. The employees and owner love the place and want the visitors to have a wonderful time.
My only suggestion would be for the owner to consider removing the full and twin beds in the bedroom and replacing them with a queen or king. Most of us folks have gotten used to the larger beds and aren't very comfortable in the full beds (even though we are very normal sized people). If they did this they would still have room for a roll-away or crib when needed.
The rooms were spacious and had every thing we needed to cook and enjoy. The evenings were the best. Guest come out and watch the sunset and then get to know one another.

Room Tip: If you don't want to drag your things upstairs, your should request ground floor. No elevators...

we just spent 2 weeks here and have already made reservations for next year. this is one of the cleanest places we've ever stayed. The rooms were spotless and had everything to make our stay perfect. Tenna and her staff were wonderful and Susan was great. Everything was very relaxing and the pool and beach were wonderful! We met a lot of nice people and enjoyed everybody. We can't wait until our next visit! Harry the heron was fun to see, too. BETSY AND JACK KOVACH

Room Tip: All rooms are perfect!

This is the third time I have stayed here and hope to have many more visits! Location is awesome, the room was very clean. A lot of fun people stayed here, we really enjoyed our neighbors! Beach chairs, towels and umbrellas are provided, which make for an enjoyable beach stay. I can't say enough about staying here. Indian Rocks Beach is the best, a lot of good restaurants within walking distance!
