“Peaceful and relaxing vacation!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2014

We had 14 people including adults and children in our group. Each family had their own condos. We all had great experience condos were very nice and clean and accommodated to what we
needed. Beaches were clean Hardly anyone at the beach. Not a touristy place at all. You do have to drive a little for grocery stores but that's not a big deal to us . We all enjoyed our vacation and had a great great time. We would definitely visit the island again and Ocean Village.

Ocean Village has a lot to offer and is very well maintained for a community that dates back to the late 70's early 80's. The grounds are lush and well manicured. There are several pools and the ocean at your doorstep. The restaurant on the property is very good and prices are reasonable.

My caution is be careful about what condo you rent as there is a wide disparity. I would vacation there again but I would NOT STAY IN CATAMARAN I #2124. The advertising says it is up dated but that is a stretch. The bed in the master was pillow top and comfortable but the bed in the other bedroom was absolutely horrible. I had to go out and spend 400.00 on a foam mattress topper in order to be able to sleep on it. The linens supplied were ancient and poor quality. Fortunately I packed an extra bag with sheets to bring on the plane. The adjoining bathroom had barely luke warm water in the shower. The kitchen was marginally equipped, There was no wifi in the unit and the internet connection worked sporadically. The building was nice and came with a carport but there are much nicer units in this building for the same monthly fee. There are lots of condo options at Ocean Village but not too many come with a carport or garage and many don't have decks or screened porches so if that is important to you check that out as well.

This was our second time renting a condo in Ocean Village Resort , and the second was just as good if not better than the first. This time we had a unit in Beachtree 2. The main draw for us to stay here is because of the opportunity to stay on the ocean at a reasonable price. The ocean was beautiful, lots of shells and our family had fun fishing as well. We had some wavy days but the majority of days we were still able to swim. In our experience this isn't a place for young kids to swim as the waves can be strong, we had kids around 11 that were swimming comfortably though.

Part of the reason I love this place is because of the quiet. The main pool can be busy but the other 2 pools we had access to were generally quiet, mostly with people laying in the sun and we had the pool to ourselves. If you are looking for a happening, busy place than this is not the place for you. It does take about 20-30 minutes to get into a town with more things going on. Fort Pierce is closer but doesn't seem to have a lot going on from what we experienced. There are some nice nature walks within close proximity to the resort that our family enjoys.

The condo we rented was okay. It was very outdated, but generally well kept. We rented a two bedroom, 2 bath and it had enough room for 3 couples/families, with one couple on air mattresses as their was no sofa bed. The unit we rented was right against the road and beside the security gate which made for more noise than we would have liked, if you can find a unit closer to the ocean I recommend that. Also our unit had no internet access, if this is important to you make sure to check first, we just assumed it would be there.

One thing to keep in mind when renting here is that their are people who live here and can feel like a retirement community. Many of the people are very friendly and kind, but some people are real sticklers for the rules and instead of kindly speaking with you will just report you to security (who are very friendly and kind when they have to speak with you.) We happened to be playing tennis on the wrong courts and were reported by a lady who was quite rude to us. We weren't aware of the rules for that specific tennis court as it had many entrances and the rules were only posted at one entrance and instead of kindly letting us know she reported us. Also the same sort of people are vigilant at making sure you are wearing your Ocean Village wristband which you are supposed to wear when using the facilities in the resort. I have seen quite a few people being confronted about this in an unfriendly way by people that seem to have nothing better to do.

Families with young children should also be aware that they do not allow children under 3 in the large pools. There is a small kiddie pool at the main pool. Also there is one hot tub available to us to use and it was also located at the main pool.

Do I review the gated community or do I review the condo that we rented for the month? Let's do the easy one first and the one that is not reflected of the overall rating. The gated community was AMAZING. The grounds were well kept and it was obvious the management placed a high priority on the pool areas, gold course and common areas. The Tiki restaurant was a great value for the price and the local brewery beers they sold were awesome. The area by the pools were clean and the pool itself was a dream, warm but just cool enough to be refreshing. The beach and ocean were just a stones throw from the main pool area. If I were to just rate the community, I would go with a four but since we spent the main portion of our time in the condo we rented, I have to place the most weight there. We rented a ground floor condo in Catamaran II. It was the worst place I have ever stayed in my life. It was clearly untended and the owner sorely disinterested. I won't mention the decor, bad as it was because it was a matter of taste but the fact that it had flooded several months prior to our stay impacted every minute of our visit. The place smelled like something had died...literally. It reeked even though the owner stated that it was clean. We purchased a ton of air freshener and candles hoping to dissipate the smell...it did not help. The condo was billed as turnkey and a beach oasis...we had to purchase towels, silverware, plates, utensils and cookware, etc...The washing machine was awful we had to have several repairmen in the unit over the first two weeks. After two weeks, we gave up and contacted the rental agency. The two nights prior, we were bitten up on our legs by whatever bugs were there even though we hadn't been to the beach. The agency found us a new condo for the last two weeks, which was clean and truly turnkey. It was night and day. My lesson is this...beware of where you rent, I think the best bet is to contact the facility itself. Every resident we spoke to knew that our unit was awful and said that anyone in it had left early and had been horribly disappointed. If I knew that I would have a decent unit, I would go back but it the one we rented was our only option, I would never, ever go back.

Stayed at OV over Christmas 2013 and really enjoyed the place.
Arrived very late but security set up was excellent and soon got into rented unit. Location is excellent, walking the beach each day is never boring when it's cold back home. Facilities offered are excellent with sun beds at all pools. Need to remember that many"mature" clients are there at. Xmas so drive thoughtfully.
Some people complain about the travelling to get anywhere but we never got tired.
Great access to both north and South with beaches all the way down.
Can't wait to return.

This is a Beautiful Gated Community! They have a mix of Condo's, Private Homes, and Golf Lodges. These are all privately owned and at all levels of being updated. Most of the owners have them updated and very well appointed. Make sure you look into this because I'm sure there could be a disappointment. If you go through the resorts rental office I don't think there would be a problem. I have rented a one bedroom Golf Villa and a 3 bedroom Golf Lodge and both were updated and beautiful. There are several pools, a Nine hole golf course, Basketball, Shuffle board, Bacci, Water Aerobics, Cards, Many Tennis courts and an Awesome tennis pro (Emile). If you are a Tennis Player - you could not find a better place. The two on property restaurants are great. And, this community is right on the Ocean. Not many of the accommodations have an Ocean View but, I don't think it's all that important because most have a view of a fairway, pond, tennis or, garden which are all nice. Many of the local Restaurants are great! The Sunrise Theatre which is 15 minutes away has great concerts and shows and there is not a bad seat in it. Tuesday evenings are Jazz nights and very reasonable and in walking distance from many great restaurants. The area has many local parks as you come across the bridge north of the property and, a doggy park on the ocean just a few mile south of the property. So yes, you can even bring your dog in some of the units that allow it.

Room Tip: Some of the buildings do not have an elevator so check if you have trouble with stairs or ask for a...

This property has it all! Golf, Tennis, fitness center, shuffleboard, restaurant, pool bar at the main pool and pools at several of the property buildings. We have stayed here long term for a job nearby in the past and are currently staying in a 2,400 sq. ft. oceanfront condo for a family vacation. We love it here. It's quiet and there's plenty of restaurants a short drive away and this is close to the Northernmost bridge to the mainland with a full grocery store and plenty of shopping when you drive a little further. The grounds are well maintained and the security is not only at the gate, but performing rounds on the property routinely.

Cons: It's isolated compared to the southern and middle part of the island. The areas inland that are accessible in a hurry in Fort Pierce have less shopping, entertainment and more of a criminal element present than the mainland to the South in St. Lucie, Jensen Beach, and Stuart.

All in all a great place to stay if you just want to kick back and enjoy the beach and the grounds of the condo complex.

Room Tip: Ocean front is the best. Be sure to check where the condo is located as it can be quite a walk to t...
