“Awesome to watch the Monkeys”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Service left alittle to be desired as the bartender seemed to hate her job and it showed but definitely worth seeing the monkeys on their island.

“Great view, decent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014

This is typical bar food with an outstanding view of the river and Monkey Island. The bar area heats up at night with a live band (but we had kids and did not go there, but heard music from pool). Nice staff, but a little slow even though it didn't seem too busy.

“Turn around and Stay Far FAR Away.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014

The worst dining experience I've ever had!

Restaurant Tip #354
When you ask your waitress what she recommends, and her comment is (while laughing, mind you) "Nobody comes here for the food, they come for the monkeys" - something is horribly wrong.

A location that SHOULD be breathtaking (full size windows on 3 sides of this waterfront...um, place) is squashed by disgustingly dirty windows that make seeing anything outside a visual obstacle course of dead bugs and gross negligence when it comes to cleaning.

A green carpet that has obviously been soaked with water more than once is emanating a smell that is a cross between stagnant water and greasy fried fish (if you can imagine).

Menus with dried on crusty food topped this off.

Dinner comes out, and 'white fish' is grey and so full of grease that it was inedible. Philly Cheese Steak had hard, pickle soaked bread and a meat that tasted like it was grilled on a flatop that also grills fish.

Home Made Chips that were so cold (and fishy tasting) the salt wouldn't even adhere to them. To top it all off, a manager that had 'stepped out'. My guess is more than just the manager had 'stepped out' of this place. We left telling people to turn around in the parking lot - it was that bad.

I'm sure there is SOMEWHERE to eat around this town, but this place DEFINITELY is not it. It was such a horrible experience that we actually left mad - and it effected our mood for the rest of the evening.

Friends don't let friends go to the Monkey Bar. (Also known as the Homosassa Riverfront Resort Restaurant)

“Funky Monkey, Stay Away!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2014

The red flags were everywhere, filthy carpet, windows, menus, etc, sadly we chose to ignore them. We inquired as to the best recommendations the waitress had to offer. We went those, I chose the fish special (fried) my friend chose the Philly cheese steak. My fish was grey and like the Valdez oil spill, her cheese steak tasted like my grey fish...the monkeys are wise to stay on the island and NOT eat here.
