“Beach Bargain Bonanza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2009

Simple and utilitarian. There are no frills, but you're not paying for them either. The whole point of Blue Water is its location right on the Gulf of Mexico. The place is clean, friendly and helpful. And if you like birds, there are practically tame egrets and herons that strut around allowing humans to have their fun. Nice pool, too.
I have stayed here three times and don't need to think about staying anywhere else in the area.

We stayed here over Thanksgiving. The first thing I noticed was how CLEAN everything was. This is an old Florida style hotel but it is very clean!

Pros: CLEAN, heated pool, steps from the beach, chairs available to use at the beach, lots of outside seating, lots of storage space in the room, great cable, wifi in the room, 3 friendly birds that watched us all day, daily maid service

Cons: Beds were hard and in the apartment we had 3 singles and a double. A queen bed would have been a blessing. No laundry for guests

I planned a sudden trip to AMI and being near spring break and Easter, the choices for lodging were quite limited. The beach club wasn’t my ideal choice but I was thrilled to find out that they had an apartment available. With good reviews on TA, I wanted to check it out. We have stayed on AMI before -- this is the 4th place we have stayed. We were in apt 111 -- it is on the bottom level, the corner of the hotel, near the office, and near entry to the pool. This is an old-school establishment -- older hotel with basic rooms and some apartments (with multiple rooms and kitchen).

Pros:
- On the beach!
- Heated pool which was a great temperature!
- Apt has own sitting area with two lounge chairs, two sitting chairs and small table
- Free coffee and cookies each morning
- Apt has kitchen and full frig; ice machine on-site
- Very friendly and helpful staff
- Beautiful tropical foliage and well-maintained landscaping (staff were maintaining pool and grounds every day!)
- clean room
- Beach lounge chairs available
- Nice wooden chairs on grass near beach -- great for watching sunset (if you don’t want to actually walk onto the sand)
- Wifi
- near Skinny’s and Hurricane Hank’s (great local joints)

Cons (or areas for improvement):
- No grills -- some people stay here for months at a time so we were surprised by this
- Furniture a bit outdated (but this is an old-school Floridian establishment; just know that you are not getting modern furniture and a modern bath)
- Kitchen stocked but a few more items would be nice -- like baking sheet, blender, more silverware
- Pool has metal fence around it -- so you can’t actually lounge directly by pool and move directly into the water; you must open a latched gate, go inside, and jump in pool
- bedroom for 111 has a wall that is basically glass/sliding doors by the pool area and near the office -- so in the morning, you easily hear talking as people walk back and forth, people opening gate (to pool) and swimming, kids playing outside, etc.; if you are a light sleeper and/or enjoy sleeping late, you may be frustrated as your hear these morning sounds.
- no DVD or VCR player
- no stereo or jambox (only clock radio in bedroom)
- no TV in the bedroom -- only TV with cable in the living area

Overall, this place is a good value and being directly on the beach is wonderful. No extra fees for cleaning. I would consider staying here again but I would ideally prefer something with more modern amenities and a pool/lounge area that is more open.

We recently stayed for a week. Location on the beach was superb. Older building but well kept. Quiet Island. Family oriented. Our room was large though no balcony. None were availble at the time we booked. All rooms look to the ocean. Coffee available every morning in gathering room. Bring your own beachtowel if possible--their's are like hand towels.

The Blue Water Beach Club is a nice, family-owned motel right on the beautiful beach: Clean, comfortable rooms in a relaxed environment, full of plants and a row of sunset chairs with a stunning view!
So far the facts that every traveler is looking for and more than reason enough not to look for any other hotel and book your visit at this one.

The real reason why the Blue Water Beach Club should be on top of your list is the relaxed and REAL atmosphere that surrounds it. You'll only recognize after a few days that you have arrived in a truly different world. A secret treasure created by the wonderful staff (especially David and Sebastian, they were always there for us!)
We had a Studio Efficiency with a comfy King Size Bed and in the morning they give you fresh coffee and cookies in the lobby, just steps down from your room. They also offer a complimentary newspaper, which is a superb start into a sunny day.

Thank you Blue Water Beach Club for making our stay so enjoyable!

We arrived at a nearby resort, to discover a building site right next door. Having gained a full refund , we set about finding alternative lodgings. We had never been to Anna Maria Island before, so the task seemed rather daunting.
Thankfully the first place we tried was full (this was a very busy week) but our second stop was the Blue Water Beach Club.
We were greeted by a lovely lady named Anna May, who simply could not of been more helpful. She explained how busy the whole island was, but could accomadate us in a small room until they were less full.
The room we were offered was superb, it was very clean and comfortable and had a great view of the gulf. The next day another room became available, which was bigger and had a few more facilities and an even greater veiw of the Gulf, as it was on the top floor.
As far as we could see the whole complex was kept pristine, the pool was as clean as i have ever seen, rooms were cleaned daily by the friendliest of staff, coffee served in the lobby throughout the morning with cookies.
We have travelled the world, but cannot wait to be back in the charming company of the nicest family run establishment we have ever found.
What a find !
Kevin and Julie,
