“The best place to stay on Anna Maria Island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2011 via mobile

Back för the third time. This is the place for a nice, relaxing vacation. Peggy and Ashok are great hosts, making sure everything is the way it should be. After the remodeling, the villas can't be any better, nice interior, clean and comfortable. We can't wait until we can visit next time. It's our little gem on the Florida westcoast.

As soon as we drove up to Palm Tree Villas we knew it was something special. The landscaping is lush and beautifully maintained. Our villa (#23) was easy to find and the owners Peggy and Ashok had a note on the door greeting us. Our villa was a one bedroom (king) with a pull out sofa. It was extremely clean has nice upgrades like granite counter tops and beautiful tile floors. It was just like a one bedroom apartment with its full kitchen and bath. The kitchen had everything we needed including a full set of dishes, pots and pans, coffee maker, toaster and blender. The back of the villa has a small private patio area with a table and chairs and an outdoor shower. The area is very quiet and the walk to the beach is about 3 minutes. Included with the villa is a beach umbrella, beach chairs, sands toys and boogie boards. They have wagons for you to easily take everything to the beach. The beach is BEAUTIFUL and very clean, family friendly and not crowded. The white sand is cool on your feet and there are nice sized sea shells everywhere. The island is mostly non-commercial and has a Publix market to get supplies for your stay. We cooked breakfast everyday at the villa and made sandwiches for lunch to take with us. We liked having the owners available during the day to answer any questions and help us make reservations to area attractions. Laundry is available at no charge (bring your own soap) and the laundry room has fresh towels and sheets available all the time. They also have a large, relaxing pool with pool toys and lounge chairs. I recommend bringing sunscreen, beach towels, a soft side cooler and ice pack, a beach bag and a few gallon size zip lock bags for shells and valuables at the beach (the sand gets into everything). We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back. Thanks for all the great memories, The Evans Family, Thornton CO

Room Tip: Eat at the Sandbar, it's right on the beach and has great food. Stay away from Mr. Bones BBQ

I cannot say enough good things about the Anna Maria resort of Palm Tree Villas. Everything we needed to have a perfect stay was provided! Beach towels & chairs, wagon, books, DVD's laundry facility (FREE), clean towels beautiful updated kitchen and bath AND they are environmentally friendly, using solar panels on rooftops! The unit (#25) was extremely clean everywhere and we felt so comfortable. Just one block straight west to the beach too. The tropical foilage surrounding the interior and around our private patio was beautiful. Didnt get to meet Peggy but Ashtok was great. Very friendly and wants to make sure you enjoy your stay. This is my 8th visit to the island and for the money, you cannot beat this resort. We plan to return next May/June and it is great to know we won't have to look for a new place to stay!

Room Tip: Some folks complained about the mattresses but ours were great. Good nights sleep each night.

Please don't let bad reviews dissaude from staying here. It is a great place, particularly if you have a family. From the outside, this looks like a 60's type complex of about 25 apartment units. But the units are newly remodeled and nicely appointed. I travel often to Florida and have stayed at some of the large resorts in the Tampa area. The rooms are as nice as most of the resorts (unless you really do want to stay at the Ritz). I would compare them to a Residence Inn type facility. There has been criticism of the beds in other reviews, but we found them quite comfortable. We didn't need the sleeper sofa in the living area and suspect it would not have been that comfortable, but then what sleeper sofa is? Each bedroom had a tv and the master and living rooms had dvds. The kitchen was nicely appointed with every appliance and dish you could possibly need. We just used it for breakfast and snacks, but could easily have cooked a meal.

The place was exceptionally clean. There is not daily housekeeping, but I suspect if you asked, you could get it. If you needed more or clean towels, all you had to do is go to the laundry, which was very close, and pick them up. We had all the towels we needed.

The facility is right across the street from the beach. It is a 5 minute walk at most. Palm Tree provided us with 4 beach chairs, a beach umbrella, and a wagon to cart it all. There were lots of beach toys and boogie boards that we could also use. There is a small pool, which was also very nicely maintained. WiFi was free and worked fine.

We had a package that included $60 off dinner at the City Pier Restaurant (nothing fancy but a lot of fun), a Dolphin tour (ok) and an Eco-Tour at the Sarasota Aquarium which a trip highlight for the 8 year old in the group.

If you are looking for a resort with all the amenities, room service, etc., then this is not your place. But if you don't need all the extras and are more interested in a nice place to relax, then this is a great place. The rooms are spacious, which makes it a great place when you are staying with family for more than a few days. We will certainly consider coming back.

We enjoyed our stay, the rooms were very nice, clean and quiet. The ammenities are excellent, everything you need to make the stay more enjoyable. The outside area is very clean.nice pool area. Close to the beautiful white sandy beach, we enjoyed wonderful sunsets. This was my husband's first time to Anna Maria Island and I chose Palm Tree Villas based on location. He was so impressed I know we will make this "our" place for future visits.

Stayed in the two bedroom, and enjoyed the trip very much. The facility is on 66th street just off the beach and truly a 1 min leisurely stroll to the sand. The owners provide an umbrella, chairs, and a cart to wheel it all to the beach. There was some fantastic surf with waves that made the kids go nuts and wind that if we didn't have the screw-in gadget that they owners provided that stabilizes the umbrella- would have had us chasing the umbrella around like other folks on the beach..

We had rain on the last day and Ashok actually apologized to my wife for the rain, if that gives you an idea about the hosts. He also asked us what we thought about the mattress (see the post below) and we thought it was fine.

Overall, if you are looking to stay at the Marriott on Marco Island - go to the Marriott on Marco Island. But if you want a self-contained place to shut down and relax - possibly make some meals in your room during the time you are there... it is a great choice.

my only criticism would be that the WIFI was a bit crappy. I brought my apple TV with me that needs a decent connection to work (we were going through the last season of 24) and the connection was not great. This did not really affect our trip.
