“Great fresh seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2014 via mobile

If you're looking for a romantic night out, skip starfish. But if you want fresh shrimp and fish fried really well, this is the place. Really good cheese grits and hush puppies too and a feel of old florida. Sit on a dock with a view of work boats and Sarasota bay. What could be better.

“Authentic waterfront seafood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

This restaurant is in Cortez, Florida, just east of Anna Maria Island and south of Cortez Road. The Star Fish Company is the destination for a lot of locally caught seafood, and the café is out back overlooking the old fishing boats in the harbor. Seating is pretty much first-come, picnic table style, food is served in paper boats, and don't think you can use your credit card. But whatever you order is fresh, right from the kitchen, and when they call your name, you'd better hustle up to the window and get it, because if you don't, somebody else might! Tip: grab the table first, then get into the order line. And if you can avoid low tide, you'll have less of the old harbor fragrance to spice your lunch....

“Great fish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014 via mobile

Visit this joint if you want a great grouper sandwich. My group had a grilled and blackened grouper sandwich and they were fresh and delicious. Good prices, about $13 for sanwich and $2.50 beers. Note all seating is outside.

“Great smoked mullet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

The food here is delicious, but you have to be in the right mood for the experience. The wait to order can be very long, the wait for your food can seem interminable-- even if you arrive early, smokers at the outdoor tables threaten to ruin your meal, it can feel awfully hot and sticky outside, and great blue herons and seagulls sit frightfully close by. So come prepared for that and order the smoked mullet, the soft shell crab and the conch fritters. Your tummy will feel totally satisfied.

“Great seafood with no frills”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

The Starfish couldn't have any better prices or fresher seafood. No frills here--you order at the window, grab a Corona and find a seat at one of the picnic tables on the dock. While you're waiting, watch the boats and big birds waiting for handouts. Excellent food. Highly recommend the peel & eats for only $10. Fun place. Good for families.
