Well, I finally figured a way to try Billy's without eating their featured dish. ( I seem to be allergic to some shell fish- (ask my rabbi).
We have been here many times before, but TA never had the place listed. It should be listed after this review.
Went for lunch. If you are undecided, try lunch first. The menu isn't exactly inexpensive like the Golden Coral, BUT, the place is much niceer...very clean and fresh.
Service was very good, except for a bit of a wait for the food to arrive. The hostess and wait people were very friendly and helpful. The wait person cane to our table often to ask if we need a refill ( soft drinks refilled free wneh we were there). She explained there might be a wait....we were not in a rush, sat outside in a slider type table (like the have at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper & many other places in the area...(I am big, but was able to fit into this contrapsion)
Menu items are for lunch or dinner. Lunch stops at 5 PM, and then only dinner items can be ordered from the menu.
Lunch:
includes several options. There are sandwiches...fish of the day is $10.99 and well worth the price. A poor boy oyster sandwich was $9.99, and they start at $7.99....(not a killer)
Lunch Baskets include a lot of food, and the fish of the day @ $10.95 was excellent. The wait person told us there were 5 types of flesh fish of the day today. Included real Grouper ( Fl has a problem with some fake coming in from Asia), Yellow Tail Snapper, Salmon and I forgot the others. This included very thick steak fries, cole slaw and dressings ( Tartar/coctail). Other baskets start from $9.95 up to around $20.00.
I picked Yellow Tail Snapper - grilled, the cardiologists delight, except I also loved those fries, too. (You can pick other options aside from the fries) The fish was super fresh, and I would estimate over 10 oz. (I hope the owner doesn't see this).
We didn't do dinner, but I took a menu because I wanted to explain how the All You Can Eat works.
First, so you don't go into shock, listed pricing on some items were as high as about $45.00 for Filet Mignon or a bit less for NY Strip ( Ya see what happens when Maneros of Hallandale closes???:( ).
But most of the dinners entres are in the $20 to 35 range...nothing is included ( except at certain times)...
Now the All U Can Eat. This refers only to certain shell fish listed below, and MAY NOT be available on Fri or Sat. ( If there are no stone crabs, its not available any time):
Florida Stone Crab Claws Market Price
Alaskan King Crab Legs Market Price
Alaskan King Crab Market Price.
Sorry I didn't think to ask approx costs.
There is a small fresh seafood market that seems to only sell shell fish....mainly king crab legs & a bunch of different sized Stone Crabs.
Easy docking on the ICW. Parking is hard in the PM. Place is just N of the ICW Bridge for Hollywood Blvd, shares its building with Taverna Opa, and traffic can really get congested. On weekends, there are usuallu police helping direct traffic. Valet parking...but if you are close, just walk there.
All most forgot. The Cole Slaw??? Send the guys down to the Rascal House before it closes, and see how they do it. Seemed like right out of the factory container. Cabbage is too cheap to not make your own
Will add pix after TA lists the restaurant
