“Close to the airport convenient stay for late arrival or early departure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013 via mobile

We arrived late and stayed 1 night before going to our final destination in Hollywood. The room was clean and quiet. The hotel front desk was efficient at check in. Perfect for a quick stay near the airport.

The exteriors & interiors of this hotel bordered on ART. Very well done. Kudos on whoever
designed and constructed the bathroom/shower areas. As good as it gets! The staff was very
friendly and helpful. The morning buffet was very good and wait staff amazingly friendly. Can't
say enough about the amenities and ambiance of this place!

If I'm management, I'm doing the following things to get that 5th star:
1. Can't believe a hotel this nice would still have noisy room A/C units instead of Central A/C.
THAT was a big negative when you are a tired traveller and want a good night's sleep;
2. After 2 phone calls and 45 minutes in a very uncomfortable shuttle pick-up location at FLL,
we finally got the hotel shuttle. Not impressed.

These are negatives that need to be addressed! The next time we head to FLL we'll see if
any of these issues have been resolved. We sure did like the place. Beautiful & friendly!

We ended up at this Holiday Inn after a reservation « snafu » with another hotel in the area that cancelled our 4 rooms because of a change of the expiry date on my credit card – a long story…

Being stuck at FLL on a Friday evening in high cruise season with no hotel to go was no fun and a mad scramble was started to find something at a reasonable rate. After calling a few hotels that were either full or charged an arm and a leg, we reached this HI and explained our predicament. They had just a few rooms left and they were initially asking 250$ per room, the famous best available rate, but they agreed to give us a discount since we took four rooms. While the reduced rate was higher than the first hotel we had reserved, it was now more acceptable and we did not have much choice. We also had to plan to pay our breakfast since they did not include it in the rate but, to the credit of the manager at HI, they did agree to offer breakfast for a few of us and it was free for the kids.

We had a general good first impression as we arrived and we did not explore much then as it was late and still had not eaten any supper. Off we were to Denny’s close-by. Our rooms were located on the 6th floor and I don’t have any complaints about them, except for the noisy a/c unit that made sleeping a little harder, since I’m a rather light sleeper. Furniture was in very good shape, everything was pretty clean and the queen beds were comfortable. In the morning, we got a better look at the hotel and it’s a pretty nice establishment, although the surrounding area and neighborhood left somewhat to be desired, but it was very convenient to reach the airport and the port.

For breakfast, they offered a good variety but the space was a little cramped for all those who wanted to eat in the morning. The kids loved the pool and we had a hard time getting them out when it was time to leave. Finally, as we had a rental car, we didn’t use the free shuttle from the airport but members of our group did and they were satisfied with the service. They also used the shuttle ($) to the port and no complaints there.

Would I go back to this HI ? Yes and no. I found that the hotel was overall a good choice but it’s asking a too high price for what it’s offering, considering that breakfast is also not included. I imagine they are going with supply and demand to set prices and if the hotel is full, regardless of those prices, they will not lower them. So, I guess I would try to find something cheaper before going back but if no other real options were available, I would return.

We did a pre-cruise stay at this Holiday Inn because the rate was pretty reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. When we arrived at the airport I called hotel for shuttle and I have to say that by the time we walked from the baggage claim area to shuttle pick up, the shuttle was already there waiting for us, very good. Front desk staff was very nice and we were upgraded to a mini suite that had a microwave, fridge and a small living area and dining table. The pool is beautiful, with nice plants and flowers. Breakfast buffet is about $11.99 or you can do continental breakfast for $3 or $4 dollars less. The items on breakfast buffet were fine, not great but not bad.
The room was comfortable except that ours was facing the street and the highway and I could hear the noise, however my husband slept just fine. The A/C unit can be a little noisy. I did like the bathroom because it was a good size.
The only restaurant within walking distance is a Denny's right across from the hotel and personally I think the food is awful.
Get the shuttle from hotel to cruise port, very reasonable at $8 per person, do this upon check in, front desk will give you a ribbbon to tie to your suitcase, color depends on the ship you are sailing on and they will give you the time the shuttle will be arriving, make sure you are there at least 15 minutes early.
Both drivers in the shuttles were very friendly.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper make sure your room is not facing Denny's because Expressway is right...

Drove to Florida from Ontario, Canada for pre-cruise stay, and 14 days of parking. Arrived in the evening. Check in was smooth, and without issue. Initial room had a noisy A/C unit, and we were given a different room, without question. Room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Bed was quite comfortable, with no backache in the morning. Shower was very decent. Shuttle to cruiseport went without a hitch. However, some people arrived to the shuttle a bit late. When you book for a time with the shuttle, that is actually the time the shuttle leaves, so you have to be in the lobby at least 10 minutes earlier. Did not stay at the hotel on return from cruise. Taxi from cruiseport to hotel was approx. $21.00. My vehicle was exactly as I left it. There is a "decoy" police car in front of the hotel, and we were told that the police "swing by" more frequently on the weekend. There are surveillance cameras in the parking lot, and it is well lit. We were satisfied with the value, and would definitely stay here again. This is one hotel that does not charge extra for parking on an extended cruise of 14 days.

We arrived for 3 nights. On the first night, my husband got sick. We were on the 2nd floor with a group of loud people who kept walking from room to room, talking and shouting and I was both anxious and tired.

Fortunately, when I told Jane about my husband condition, she gave me practical advices and helped me finding the nearest hospitals just in case he got worse. At 4 am, Jane spoke to the people on the corridor and asked them to be quiet. The day after, Jane made sure we got a different room, on another floor. Bless her. Without Jane it would have been the worse stay, but with her it was excellent.

We stayed here for two days after our cruise since it is close to the airport and we had an early flight. Room was good, pool was gorgeous. The pleasant young woman who checked us in early was very accommodating since we had lots of luggage post cruise and didn't want to cart it around in our car all day. Even though she said initially she didn't have a room for us at 10am and that there was no where to store our luggage, within a couple of minutes she managed to perform a miracle and found us a room that was clean and ready! We were very grateful. Breakfast was $8.95, but there is a fridge and we bought milk and cereal and yogurt to have our own breakfast in our room. No shopping nearby.
