“Very Good Overnight Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

I stayed here overnight before meeting my friends for dinner. It's located conveniently close to the airport and Fort Lauderdale isn't too far away either. The check-in staff was courteous and helpful while the lobby, although nothing fancy, looked nice and clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was just okay. I did find one dead cockroach though but it was inside the closet area :(
If you're looking for a nearby restaurant, a TGI Fridays is located in the strip mall next door to the hotel where you can also a theater complex if you're craving to watch a movie.

Great hotel and a reasonable price that is well located to air and cruise ports as well as Ft Lauderdale and Miami activities; yet in a relatively quiet area in a nice setting. Only knocks are enough seating at breakfast, breakfast is so-so but what do you want for free and the one elevator for four floors is real slow.

The La Quinta in Fort Lauderdale is distinguished by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at all levels of service. From the staff at the front counter, to the staff doing maintenance and cleaning, everyone was delightful, pleasant, helpful and smiling. My wife and I stay at a lot of hotels across the great land of ours, and the level of service at the La Quinta in Hollywood are extraordinarily nice.

We called for the shuttle once we landed in FT Lauderdale and had to wait over an hour and a half for the shuttle. Once we got to the hotel there was only one person working and to check into the hotel took us over an hour also! by the time we got into our room it was almost midnight and we landed around 8:15 at the airport!

I would never stay here again.

We stayed here for a night after coming back from a cruise. It is located much further from the port than we had thought so the taxi fare was quite a bit- I'd suggest paying the $10 per person charge for the shuttle (privately operated) that runs between the port and the hotel as our taxi fare was $35. We had called ahead before leaving for our cruise and asked if early check in would be possible since we'd be there at like 10 am or so. We were told that wouldn't be a problem that they are use to it and that there could be a small wait. Upon arrival we found people pouring out of all the public spaces and the outside as many many people were waiting for shuttles/taxis to the cruise port. We were greeted by friendly staff at the desk but were told it was going to be a bit perhaps 45 minutes before our room would be ready. We were okay with that and took a seat in the lobby and gave them our name and were told they would let us know when we could check in. 3 1/2 hrs later (30 minutes after normal check in time) we grew very impatient and spoke to the front desk again to find that our room had been ready for quite some time but they forgot to tell us! Needless to say we wanted to leave but we had nowhere to go. After that though the stay was great. The room was large and clean. The public area were large and clean. The breakfast was very adequate the following morning prior to leaving for the airport- cereal, waffles, pastries, boiled eggs, bagels/toast, coffee, juice, milk. The pool was large and warm as was the hot tub. The location was great- it backs to a large lake with many palms on the property. Just a short 5 minute walk across a bridge is a large shopping area with KMart and other smaller stores and several restaurants (we ate at the Soup Plantation and was very satisfied with both the food and price). In the morning we used (we were the only ones in it) the hotel's own shuttle van to the airport that was free. Other than being further from the port & airport than thought and the very long and unnecessary wait the stay was great and the hotel is nice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the pool and lake

The rooms here have been renovated and are very nice. There is a free shuttle to the airport and from the airport. You can leave your car there while on your trip for free. The last time we stayed before a flight was at Sleep Inn and they charged $7 a night to leave your car there.

Room Tip: We had a room on the second floor but the elevators are small so the first floor would be better
