“Very happy!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2010

We picked this hotel randomly and will definitely return again. The hotel staff was very accomodating and friendly! We were upgraded to a suite due to the fact that this is considered a boutique hotel for Marriott they do not offer a room with two Queen beds, being that we were 2 adults and one teenager 2 doubles didn't work for us. They also gave us free breakfast both days that we stayed and free parking. This hotel was nice and clean and the views were beautiful.

For our 12 year anniversary and my 36th birthday I wanted a Florida beach hotel and chose this one based on TA reviews - as we are Marriott people. I wrote the staff ahead of time noting the special occasion. We arrived at 1:30am (driving up from a day in Key West). We had been upgraded to a suite. It was an incredible room with a fantastic ocean view and so many great amenities. There were bottles of water, a bottle of wine, and a bowl of nuts waiting in our room along with a congratulatory note from staff. We woke early on the 2nd morning to watch the sun come up...then went back to bed! We enjoyed the hotel, the concierge gave great advice - set up a 2nd snorkel for my husband - advised on beach lunch and bike rental, the Tiki Bar had great (slightly pricey) pina coladas, and you just can't beat walking out a hotel and straight onto a a great beach! Hollywood is a nice town away from the crush of the big city. You must try the sparkling lime-ade?? in the lobby. It was awesome!

I traveled to the Marriott in Sept. with my sister and then my two sons and two grandchildren joined us, staying nearby. The week at the Marriott was just wonderful, staff, from the front desk to the bar tenders, to pool attendant were polite, helpful and were quick to help with anything.
Our room was perfect, beautiful, some say small, but we found it perfect, the balcony, although small was fine, with a beautiful view. We loved looking at the Inter Coastal in one direction, the pretty small hotels and Ft. Lauderdale skyline, straight ahead and the pool and ocean to the front.

The coffee and tea provided was good, although one day the housekeeping staff did not leave any, no clean glasses and no coffee condiments. I did know where the cart was kept though and went and got our own.

I did read in one review that there were almost no electrical outlets available and was worried about that as we both use CPAP machines at night and my sister also has to use an Oxygenator. There were plenty of outlets, next to each bed, between the beds and near the wall.
So not to worry.

If u cannot find the hair dryer, it is in the closet in a nice bag, it took us a while to find it.
Iron and ironing board are provided in the closet as well.
As others have said, the bath products are wonderful, smell great and are provided daily, loved the shampoo. You do not have to worry about having enough towels and washcloths as u do in some hotels, fluffy and plenty of them.

The internet that was included worked fine and I was glad that I bought my laptop. My granddaughter was able to assess the wireless connection while on the balcony.

The food at the restaurant was wonderful, every thing that we ordered was cooked perfectly, although we only ate breakfast and lunch there. The portions were huge, so after the first couple of days we shared an entree and appetizer.
The salads and pizza was wonderful as was the lobster bisque with a fritter.
We did have the breakfast buffet several times, pricey but good, the grand kids loved it, they could eat all the bacon they wanted.

The pool area was always clean and it was great that it was open until 11PM so we used it a lot in the hot eves. Nice to sit at the pool and look at the ocean.
The fruit water provided along with the big bucket of ice was appreciated and the ice cold spritzer bottles along with the cold towels were great.
They were remodeling the bathrooms at the pool so we had to walk into the restaurant to use the bathrooms, a bit inconvenient but short term, I am sure.

It was great to sit on the Broadwalk and have lunch with family and people watch.

It is a bit of a walk to get to shops and restaurants but there are benches and lots to look at as you walk along. Going to be a nice Martgueritaville nearby soon.

We were happy to have a son living nearby so he drove us to different ethnic restaurants each eve. and we had a BBQ at a park nearby the Marriott.
Had Vietnamese, Jamaican, Greek food, all very good and a visit to Hard Rock is not far from the Marriott.

Sunday at the Marriott outside restaurant was fun with a wonderful singer doing Jamaican tunes, drums were great.

All in all, our stay at the Marriott was great and I hope to be able to visit again next year. Hollywood Beach, Broadwalk and Beach area, and the Marriott was fantastic!

It is extremely beautiful, the location is great, it is absolutely amazing. The food is devine and the African American man making the omelettes in the is extremely friendly to all people and he makes the best eggs and omelettes. The pricing is also affordable.

The hotel, as mentioned in other reviews, was an older hotel but very clean. Quiet hotel. Great showers. Nice, clean pool. The food was good but pricey and very limited selection and it was a pretty long walk to get to other restaurants on the boardwalk. The beach could have been great but it had the most trash on it of any beach I have ever been to and for that reason I would most likely not go back to that area. The sand was absolutely full of cigarette filters, bits of paper, straws, seaweed, etc. It is unbelievable that people abuse beautiful beaches in that way. There were nice, attractive trash receptacles available at frequent intervals all along the beach but many people apparently are too lazy to use them. Shame on those people!

We arrived at the Hollywood Beach hotel on the Friday of the Labor Day weekend. We had told the staff we were celebrating our 5th year of marriage with them, as we were married 5 years ago on the beach just a few miles north of the hotel. We got given a lovely room with double balcony and a beautiful food & drink welcome platter with a personal card. It was truly a special weekend for us and we were most appreciative of the attention to detail. I had read varying reviews on the hotel but do not agree at all with the negativity. I love the Marriott approach to service and the room decor & furnishings.(The beds are comfortable and the linen very good quality) More importantly every member of staff has a genuine smile and polite friendly attitude, even on a weekend as busy as Labor Day. Yes it is a busy hotel, but it is on the beach with a lovely pool and great bar, restaurant service. I do like the name pins where you know the staff's names and their home country. I like this type of interaction when you are a customer. You don’t have to know each other’s life history but to exchange a few words on background and culture is always interesting. Marriott trains their staff well and the Hollywood Beach Hotel is no exception. Compliments to management on getting it spot on, especially over Labor Day weekend. We will be back .
