This was our annual girls getaway, August 28 - September 2. Last year we stayed at the Beach resort in Fort Laurdale. They both have their pluses and minuses. As far as the Hollywood Marriott goes, I would come back.
It is a cozy hotel, right on the beach. The front desk staff were so nice and all of our requests were met with a smile and were taken care of with no problems.
The pool is small, but nice. The pool staff were friendly, giving everyone fresh fruit, cold wet washclothes and spray bottles of cold water. We noticed that they would save places for people if they were tipped. Sorry, I'm tipping someone for that. We just got up and were down at the pool when it opened at 8 am. We felt very safe walking along the boardwalk at all times of the day and night. We walked to dinner at Le Tub and Capone's and liked both. I'm a Platinum Marriott member and that gave us access to the concierge lounge which was great for breakfast and dinner and cold drinks all day. The one negative of the lounge was the computer was a piece of junk. We did order lunch at the pool one day and it was good, but the drinks from the bar were awful. We watched one couple send theirs back. Started to see a lot of people ordering beer or go down the boardwalk and get it somewhere else. There is a place right next door that did happy hour.
Our room was on the 10th floor.
Positives - Great View
Really nice beds
HUGE glass door shower
Loved the way it was decorated
Negatives - Glass bathroom door that is right by the room door
Our TV was possessed. If you were adjusting the
volumne down, it would suddenly change
channels. We learned to ignore it.
This hotel isn't really close to anything. We took a taxi on Sunday to Aventura Mall and it cost us $25 each way. Parking is a huge rip off at this hotel. $13/day and just looking around, you could park in a garage just down the street for around $7/day. We didn't really need a car, but in the future, if I do need one, I won't be parking it here. The airport is about $25 each way also. This isn't bad when you divide it by 3 people and all of our bags.
