“Family Spring Break Time!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

My family & I decided to do a week vacation to Hollywood. FL for spring break. my 17 year old sister was all excited about the whole idea of being in FL for break. My dad is a frequent Marriott stayer because of his work & he travels a lot. So he was able to use his points to get a us a week stay on his Platinum Member status. The hotel was nice, quite average for me, but the thing that was the best & greatest aspect was the view/location. It was right on the beach, when i say right on, i mean 5 steps to the sand & ocean. it was great! The actual hotel itself was nice, nothing too special. With the Platinum Member Status, we did get an extra special treat. We got access to the Penthouse on the top floor which was daily full service breakfast, unlimited soda (coke, diet coke, etc) 24/7 and we had cocktail hour from 5.30 - 6.30 every night which was basically almost a full meal, so if you don't want to spend a lot of money going out for dinner, pre eat there. everyday was different food and it was all yummy! Also, they had a pool which was directly next to the boardwalk and beach. it was a regular sized hotel pool/spa. The pool area itself had lounge chairs and a pool boy. It was quite a cramped area, but it worked to catch some rays. The housekeeping was a bit disappointing as it took forever to get our room clean, but we weren't in the room all the time so it worked. We did switch rooms because our first room was overlooking the air conditioners and it looked bad. But they did upgrade us asap. All in all for the location and sun it was a great hotel! I wouldn't jump at it staying there again, but I wouldn't mind staying there again if i was in the area!

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side have a great view! and if you say "royalty rate" at the valet, you...

I was there with my kids and my parents, and this hotel was a good match for all three generations. The hotel was fully booked when we were there, and service was still very good. Large and clean rooms with good size bathrooms but tiny balconies. Nice swimming pool and good outdoor restaurant. Located on the beach, great for long walks, biking or running. Breakfast buffet was fresh and had a good variation.

Room Tip: Get a room higher up, with balcony and view

Next time we see another low rate for this property we would definitely drive over and stay a couple of days again. We like the boardwalk in Hollywood Beach for strolling down to great restaurants and some nights there is a band playing at the band shell on the beach which is far enough away not to be a problem with noise. We really enjoyed watching the full moon rising over the ocean and enjoyed listening to the great band playing at the Marriott's beachside outdoor bar and restaurant. We spent a lot of time strolling on the sandy beach and in the ocean and in the pool, too. We liked sitting on our balcony, although small, and listening to the ocean waves. It is a no smoking and no pet hotel and I called the front desk and reported a smoker and a barking dog on two separate balconies below us. It was a very nice room and we love being on the beach so we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone flying to or from Ft Lauderdale International (FLL) because of its close proximity to the airport.

Room Tip: Ask for high up and a room close to the ocean. Don't know if our side or the pool side has the...

Visited my aunt who rented the weekend here; overall a disappointment for a Marriott property. Housekeeping was really late (after 3pm) in servicing her room; instead of bath towels was given pool towels in her room; the servers at the pool refused us service when requesting beverages at the pool because they were too busy. The hotel seemed as if they were understaffed and incapable of dealing with the demands of the sheer number of guests they had this weekend.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a girls' weekend. I didn't find it to be anything special, but it's not bad either. I'll start with some issues we had: When we checked in and went to our room, we noticed a big yellowish stain on one of the sheets. I think the sheet had been washed, but it's still a little disturbing to see a big stain right where you'll be sleeping. So we asked housekeeping to change the sheets on that bed. We left and went to lunch, returned, and nothing had been done. So we had to ask a second time before they finally changed it. They make a point of leaving the tv remote in a paper sleeve telling you it's been sanitized. When we got the remote out to use it, there was some sort of pinkish substance on some of the buttons. Sanitized? I think not. There were different minor annoyances, like housekeeping not leaving us enough towels, a lighted make-up mirror that didn't light up, the water pressure in the shower is not great, and there's no fan in the bathroom, so it gets really steamy when you shower. None major issues, but added up, rather irritating. I liked that there was a balcony, but the 2 chairs on it took up most of the space. There were 4 of us girls, and it was way too small for all of us to be out there at the same time comfortably. Now for the good: I like that this hotel is right by the beach, you just have to walk across the broadwalk, and there's the beautiful white sand and the ocean. The beds are fairly comfortable, and the decor in the room is nice. I liked the full-length mirror on the back of the closet door. The fruit-infused water they have in the lobby is a nice touch. We arrived over 2 hours before check-in, and were happy to find our room was ready, and we didn't have to wait. The staff was friendly, and service at the front desk was good. I also liked that there was free wifi, with no password necessary. Our room had a mini-fridge, which was a plus. I also liked that self-parking ($17 per day) is right in the hotel garage, and not in some inconvenient location like is sometimes the case. Overall, I would rate it about average. When you're spending over $300 on a hotel room you have certain expectations, and I didn't find this hotel to be worth anywhere close to what we paid.

Just returned from staying at hotel from March 31 to April 5th. The staff was great so friendly and happy. Scott the pool guy was awesome and Freddy who took care of breakfast on PH floor was so friendly and hard working. Hotel room was very clean. Fish taco's were great! Overall excellent location and great vacation.

Room Tip: We were in room 810 view was beautiful all rooms on southside would have a great view.

We stayed here from march 21 to 29. The staff is friendly, the valet guys were awesome and we really had a great vacation.
I was disappointed that we had to pay for beach chairs and there were no drinks served at the beach. The pool was very nice and the guy that ran the towels was wonderful. The waitress at the pool did a great job also!!

We ate at the marriott for lunch and everyone raved about the food!!!! It was a wonderful trip and will be going back!!
