“great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2008

i enjoyed my stay at the marriott hollywood beach. the location was great and the hotel was recently rennovated. from the outside it doesn't look very nice, but once you go inside it's nice. the pool was perfect and we were always able to find a place to sit. the room was clean (which is very important to me) and the staff were friendly. i would definetly return to this hotel my next visit to hollywood florida.

A cruiseline booked this hotel for us as a pre-cruise hotel stay for one night. We arrived exhausted from the airport @ 2:30pm and were told our room was not ready....and that it would be ready in about an hour. The desk clerk requested my cell phone number and assured me he would call me when our room was ready. We went out to sit in the restaraunt to wait....an hour went by and no call...another hour went by and no call...at 4:30pm I went to the desk to inquire...the room was still not ready. I waited another hour and checked again and FINALLY at 5:30pm, after sitting and waiting for 3 hours...our room was ready. We had a room with 2 double beds, nothing fancy....it was an average room. No complaints about it. However, we made one local call to order a pizza and were CHARGED for the call.
We were also told by the cruise line that a free continental breakfast would be provided....this did not happen....we were offered a continental breakfast for $10/person + 22% tax for room service....we declined. I suppose there was some mis-communication somewhere...but in all we were not happy with our stay at this hotel and we will not return.

  • Disliked — room was not ready, charged for local call, breakfast way overpriced, everything is overpriced

We needed a home away from home while visiting relatives but with the amenities to be a mini-vacation, packing a lot of relaxation into two nights. I expected a chain hotel experience with the price dictated by the location on the beach. What we got instead was a boutique hotel feel, extremely friendly and solicitous staff, and a great room on the 10th, northside. It is amazing that this was apparently a HoJo's 3 years ago. Its classy inside reminds one of 1920's era hotels. Someone should give the room decorator a prize, because, at least in our room, the attention to detail and striving for an overall effect were outstanding. We immediately relaxed and felt right at home. Last night we were in a 4-star hotel in Boston, which was nice, but didn't measure up to the same standard.

Just returned from the Hollywood Beach Marriott. We arrived on a Monday and left on a Friday. We had a 4 1/2 year old and a 3 year old.

Our Summary:
Marriott
======
Very nice, great location. I agree with most reviews in that the staff was really nice and friendly. They treated us great. I didn't think it was that far from places to eat. Maybe a 10 minute walk. which seems short when walking along the Broadwalk. Pool is advertised as heated but was too cold to spend much time in it. Hotel staff will bring you drinks to the beach. Hotel prices for beer seemed good, but mixed drink prices seemed high. We got a very good price on Expedia (50% off) and I would stay again at that price, but not sure i would pay the full price. Breakfast buffett was nice, there are also places along the Broadwalk that offer a better price, just not buffetts.

Broadwalk
=========
Awesome. Many places to choose to eat. We saw Greek, Armenian, Turkish, Italian, Mexican, and plenty or all-american food and seafood. All the places seem like family owned and friendly. The Kids loved walking up and down the Broadwalk.

Beach
=====
Very wide and sand is not full of shells, so it is comfortable to walk on the beach. Kids enjoyed the ocean and the sand.

Just returned from a one night stay at the Marriott Hollywood Beach following a cruise and couldn't wait to write a quick review. I'm not sure when I have encountered so many nice people in one location along with an excellent facility. We requested an early check-in. We arrived at 9:00 a.m. after getting off a cruise and the rooms were not ready (completely understandable). They took our cell number to call us when the room was ready, stored our luggage, offered us a complementary breakfast, made us welcome at thier pool which provided ice water and later a skewer of frozen grapes. After some time at the pool we went to their restaurant for lunch, which was very enjoyable and all reasonablly priced. We were called around noon to get into our room. The next morning we had an early flight out so we were downstairs by 6:00 a.m. The restaurant didn't open until 6:30 but the waitress told us to come on in, she had things almost ready and we could enjoy what she had out as well as eggs to order or omlets. Very nice breakfast buffett. Rooms were very nice. I will definately stay at this hotel again. Taxi prices from the cruise and the airport ran about $25.00 each way

Just returned from a three night stay. The beach and location on the broadwalk were great, and the weather was perfect. The hotel itself was just ok. Our room was cramped and dark, although the bed was super. We were on the 8th floor, on the pool side of the hotel and in the afternoons, the music from the pool was so loud that it was difficult to talk on the phone.

The management was very pleasant, but not terribly professional. Pool area was very small and crowded, as was the lobby.

I would not choose this hotel again.

This was a little more 'trendy' a place than we usually stay. However, we got a great deal through Travelzoo that included free self-parking and breakfast. So we decided to try it out.

Very nice room, not large but tastefully appointed. The beds are really tall but very comfortable. Room was quiet at night. The breakfast buttet was extremely good and much more than the continental type we are used to.

The location of the hotel is a little too far north for some of the eating places on the Broadwalk. However, we did enjoy walking on the Broadwalk and people watching. Stopped for some ice cream a little ways down from the hotel. Because it is farther north, the location is quieter and not as crowded, definitely a plus.

The only negatives were having a door to the room that didn't latch when it 'automatically' closed and not having the room cleaned when we returned at almost 3:30 after leaving at 7 that morning. It was cleaned shortly after that however.

The staff were friendly and we were able to get quarters at the desk--a must for parking when you venture out!

All in all, a very nice stay.
