“Had a great time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2008

Just returned from the Hollywood Beach Marriott. We arrived on a Monday and left on a Friday. We had a 4 1/2 year old and a 3 year old.

Our Summary:
Marriott
======
Very nice, great location. I agree with most reviews in that the staff was really nice and friendly. They treated us great. I didn't think it was that far from places to eat. Maybe a 10 minute walk. which seems short when walking along the Broadwalk. Pool is advertised as heated but was too cold to spend much time in it. Hotel staff will bring you drinks to the beach. Hotel prices for beer seemed good, but mixed drink prices seemed high. We got a very good price on Expedia (50% off) and I would stay again at that price, but not sure i would pay the full price. Breakfast buffett was nice, there are also places along the Broadwalk that offer a better price, just not buffetts.

Broadwalk
=========
Awesome. Many places to choose to eat. We saw Greek, Armenian, Turkish, Italian, Mexican, and plenty or all-american food and seafood. All the places seem like family owned and friendly. The Kids loved walking up and down the Broadwalk.

Beach
=====
Very wide and sand is not full of shells, so it is comfortable to walk on the beach. Kids enjoyed the ocean and the sand.

Just returned from a one night stay at the Marriott Hollywood Beach following a cruise and couldn't wait to write a quick review. I'm not sure when I have encountered so many nice people in one location along with an excellent facility. We requested an early check-in. We arrived at 9:00 a.m. after getting off a cruise and the rooms were not ready (completely understandable). They took our cell number to call us when the room was ready, stored our luggage, offered us a complementary breakfast, made us welcome at thier pool which provided ice water and later a skewer of frozen grapes. After some time at the pool we went to their restaurant for lunch, which was very enjoyable and all reasonablly priced. We were called around noon to get into our room. The next morning we had an early flight out so we were downstairs by 6:00 a.m. The restaurant didn't open until 6:30 but the waitress told us to come on in, she had things almost ready and we could enjoy what she had out as well as eggs to order or omlets. Very nice breakfast buffett. Rooms were very nice. I will definately stay at this hotel again. Taxi prices from the cruise and the airport ran about $25.00 each way

Just returned from a three night stay. The beach and location on the broadwalk were great, and the weather was perfect. The hotel itself was just ok. Our room was cramped and dark, although the bed was super. We were on the 8th floor, on the pool side of the hotel and in the afternoons, the music from the pool was so loud that it was difficult to talk on the phone.

The management was very pleasant, but not terribly professional. Pool area was very small and crowded, as was the lobby.

I would not choose this hotel again.

This was a little more 'trendy' a place than we usually stay. However, we got a great deal through Travelzoo that included free self-parking and breakfast. So we decided to try it out.

Very nice room, not large but tastefully appointed. The beds are really tall but very comfortable. Room was quiet at night. The breakfast buttet was extremely good and much more than the continental type we are used to.

The location of the hotel is a little too far north for some of the eating places on the Broadwalk. However, we did enjoy walking on the Broadwalk and people watching. Stopped for some ice cream a little ways down from the hotel. Because it is farther north, the location is quieter and not as crowded, definitely a plus.

The only negatives were having a door to the room that didn't latch when it 'automatically' closed and not having the room cleaned when we returned at almost 3:30 after leaving at 7 that morning. It was cleaned shortly after that however.

The staff were friendly and we were able to get quarters at the desk--a must for parking when you venture out!

All in all, a very nice stay.

We just got back from 5 nights at this hotel and highly recommend it. The staff goes out of their way to make you comfortable. We did not find the beds as wonderful as other reviewers, but everything else, the buffet breakfast (included in our rate), pool, ocean, broadwalk was lovely. The broadwalk (boardwalk but not wooden) is an added attraction. We sat each morning (and most lunches) and watched an endless parade of people. It was great for walking and sightseeing as well. They have lunch service at the pool too and brought out frozen grapes and served icewater flavored with citrus fruits. So many extras that make the difference.

  • Liked — The service was spectacular - so relaxing.
  • Disliked — Bed was very hard.

My family (kids are 12 and 11) stayed for 1 night pre-cruise in January at this hotel using our reward points. We have stayed at some pretty fancy hotels through my husbands work and some not so great hotels when we travel to visit family. For a one night stay, I can't say enough about this place. In fact, I could have stayed a couple more nights. I was a little hesitant after booking because some people said there wasn't much to do around there but I am glad that I didn't cancel. There was plenty to do for us and the kids!! The outside of the hotel is a little drab but you forget about that when you go inside.

We arrived at 11:30 am on Saturday and our room was ready. We had a rental car and was charged $10 for the night with in/out privileges (I come from the Chicago area where parking is $35 - $45 a night) so that was a great deal for us. We had a refrigerator in the room, a flat screen TV and a pretty decent view of the ocean from the side of the hotel.

The restaurant was delicious, the Sunday buffet was great and the pool is heated and was very warm!! The beach was not very crowded where we were and we found some chairs to sit on and put our things on for free (not sure if these were owned by the hotel or not but they were abandoned later in the afternoon so that is why we used them). The Broadwalk was really neat and the further south we walked, the more people we saw. We ate at an awesome bar and grill and had ice cream nearby. Stopped at a couple of shops along the way. We really enjoyed it!!

As far as the hotel, it has a very small gift shop, the restaurant you can eat inside or out, the pool area was very nice with some music playing (I think one time there was a steel drum out there) and not very loud and I felt everything was very clean. The rooms were quite impressive for a Marriott (very tall beds), the parking area was very easy to get to, didn't have any waits with the elevators and the staff was great!! I felt very safe there.

If I am ever back in that area, I will definitely stay there again!!

We stayed at the Marriott for a company meeting in mid-January. When we pulled up to the property, I was wondering why such an outdated-looking property would be selected. Quite frankly, the exterior looked beat-up. However, this Marriott is a gem and we quickly forgot that aspect. A+ conference facilities, very attentive, all needs met. Beautiful lobby, beautiful rooms, and most attentive staff. The furniture was very comfortable, and the small/quaint look of this hotel was charming. The Consciere was extremely helpful on many occasions, bell staff polite and helpful, front desk extremely friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the outside bar, and eating/drinking on the beach quickly became my favorite thing to do. Exercise facility was decent, 4-5 treadmills, 2-3 Ellipticals, free weights, 3-4 leg machines, ab machine, full comprehensive arm/shoulder machiine. The beach was super clean, although nobody was in the ocean due to high winds and cooler temps. I can't wait to back with my family when I can stay longer and enjoy this wonderful facility throughout.

  • Liked — Friendly and helpful staff, great beach, small/quant boutique atmosphere
  • Disliked — Exterior
