“Love this Hotel and the Broadwalk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2012

Have stayed here several times from 1-5 nights love the hotel and the beach. The hotel is old but in very good shape and to location is wonderful. Cabana/chairs on beach too expensive for a long stay go down to the bandshell turn right and go to Wings they have EVERYTHING you could ever want or need on a beach vacation.

This is a great location, but there were so many issues with the actual accommodations that it was not up to the Marriott standards I am used to. I have stayed at plenty of Courtyards that had nicer rooms. Here's a list. You practically need a step stool to get onto the bed (and I am 5'8" with very long legs) but then the nightstand is normal height, so it's very awkward if you want to reach something on the nightstand once you are in bed. There is no full length mirror anywhere in the room. While getting dressed for a black tie event I had to go down to the fitness center to look in their full length mirrors. The lamp on the desk had one bulb missing altogether and the charger plug on the front of the lamp was pulled out. Almost got electrocuted trying to charge my phone. There was a sign on top of the dresser with mini bar prices. But when we opened the door where the mini bar should be there was just a big empty space. The dresser looked like it had been through a tornado, it was so beat up. The shower was updated with nice black marble/tile but it was so dark because there was no shower light. The door into the bathroom is glass. It was "rippled" glass but you could see right through it, so there was no privacy. When I booked our reservation I selected the option for foam pillows. Did we have foam pillows when we checked in? Of course not. So why bother giving me the option? The balconies are tiny which is fine, but they have chairs that are too big for the size of the balconies, so you really can't sit out there. Why not put smaller bistro style chairs out there instead of big patio chairs?

I know this hotel used to be a Howard Johnsons, but if they are going to put the Marriott flag on it they need to bring it up to Marriott standards. The restaurant was very good for breakfast and lunch, and again, it's the perfect location. But the room was a big disappointment.

Great location for beach, pool and walking the Broadwalk! Nice hotel, showing a little age, but staffed with friendly and helpful people. Not a lot to do in the immediate area, but that's perfect if you just want to relax. Plenty of food spots within walking distance and the hotel is good for breakfast and lunch. The property is right on the beach, with only the fun and entertaining Broadwalk to cross...no busy highways! We will definitely go back!

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms on the east side for the best views.

First of all our 2 days here the weather was awful. No, worse than that. Heavy rains most of the time and absolutely no sun. What little we were able to see of the immediate area I was not impressed. Had a rundown feel to it for me. To the extent that we ate a $240 deposit on the hotel next door for later on in our vacation so we could go elsewhere. My wife feels the weather has kept us from enjoying the area more. Maybe. The hotel itself is very noisy. A/C hums loudly when on and you can hear water being run in other rooms. The sliding glass door to tiny balcony is extremely hard to operate and can be heard from above rooms. Can't comment on restaurant or bar as we didn't use them. Rooms are otherwise just ok. Cheap coffee maker, no useable fridge or micro. Plenty of room under bed for luggage if using hotel before cruise but I am 5 ft 10 and had to be careful getting out because it is so high.
We were able to walk around downtown Hollywood the first night and that was nice. Lots of restaurants and bars and some shopping. Nice little park.

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at the Hollywood Beach Marriott. This is an older hotel, but well-maintained with a very curteous and friendly staff. The best part of staying here is the location - directly on the ocean with the nice "Broadwalk" in between you and the beach. You can literally get up from your lounge chair at the pool, walk 10 seconds across the broadwalk, and be on beautiful Hollywood Beach. The rooms are good - be sure to request a king bed (no extra charge) and frig, plus a north view on upper floors (5 and above). You'll have a great view of the ocean on one side and the intercoastal waterway looking the other way,
All rooms have a balcony. Restaurant and bar scene are good. This place is a nice mid-size hotel with all the conveniences, super location at very affordable prices. Only small downside, is some of the furniture is a little worn out, no tennis or golf. But if you love a lounge chair and the beach...this is the place. WE've been back 3 times in 6 years.

Room Tip: Rooms facing north have a great view of the ocean...on upper floors.

Very nice location on the Hollywood Beach. Rooms are nice, clean, and curtains can be pulled to exclude all light. Quiet neighborhood, no traffic noise.
Restaurant is pretty good for day-to-day eating, although I was served some hummus and butter that was clearly from yesterday
Breakfast omelettes are good, the guy who does those is friendly.
I really cannot say if it was value for money, not knowing the prices for competing hotels in the area
This was a business trip, and it is always frustrating to come down to breakfast in a suit and be surrounded by relaxed holiday-makers...
$229 per night outside of the school vacations may be a little expensive, though?

Just a fantastic location right on the Hollywwood Broadwalk. Nice rooms but the best part are caring pleasant staff. 20 yards from a flat safe beach where children can play and swim to their heart's content. Plenty of cafe's and bars nearby. Only downside parking is an extra cost and a bit pricey.

Room Tip: South facing are warmer but get evening sun on balcony for those pre-dinner drinks.
