My wife and I stayed at the Marriott Beach Resort for 1 night the end of October 2007.

As I arrived the first thing that struck me was the outside of the property was not very impressive looking. I pulled up to their valet and we were immediately greeted and assisted with our luggage. Upon entering the hotel we noticed a very nice but small lobby. Directly in front was the check-in area, to the left of that the small coffee shop selling Starbucks coffee and to the right a small gift shop.

We arrived around 11:30 AM well before the check-in time of 4:00 PM and were really just looking for a place to check our bags and change to hit the pool and beach. A very nice clerk named Natashia said she would check to see if the room we reserved was ready yet. She stated our room was not ready but she checked further and offered us a free up grade to a room that was ready that we could check into at that time. We naturally agreed to that and we were off to our room. The elevators were always available with no or a very short wait.

Upon entering the room we found the room to have dark wooden trim with a dark yellow paint. We had a seperate sitting area that had a refrigerator, a couch and chair, several magazines were on a table. The bedroom had a king sized bed, 2 chairs and a table. The dresser contained the safe and coffee set-up in the middle section. There was a small plasma TV on top of the dresser. Off the bedroom were 2 balconies one looking south and the other looking over the ocean. The one on the south side was small and not private. The one looking over the ocean was larger and more private. It had a chaise lounge and 2 small chairs with a small table.

The bathroom contained a large counter with 1 sink, and an enormously large shower. 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels and 2 wash cloths were provided along with soaps and shampoos. 2 bath robes were provided as well as a hair dryer.

The room was clean and only showed a little bit of wear. My only 2 complaints were the air conditioner was a bit loud and blew directly onto the bed and there was no light weight blanket just a sheet and a heavy comforter so we had to make the room either too cool to sleep with the comforter or too warm to sleep with just the sheet. Otherwise the bed and pillows were good.

We went downstairs to the pool area. There was a three piece group playing music in the bar area, which is next to the pool, and later a man set-up a steel drum and music equipment and was singing songs at the pool. The pool attendant provided us with towels and help set-up an umbrella for shade.

Everyone working at the hotel was very pleasant and couldn't have been more helpful. In a hurry to check out I left my camera behind in the room safe. I called the hotel from the airport and they retrieved my camera and had it shipped back to me. Which why I was able to post pictures with this review.

The location is right on the broadwalk about 6 blocks north of the commercial area of the broadwalk. The area is old style Florida with little to no modern looking buildings but seemed to be safe from what we could see in the 1 day we stayed there. I would stay here again and can recommend it to anyone considering this location.

I stayed here for two nights with the wife and kids while I attended a conference at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino which had been sold out. I was looking for a place right on the ocean and was not disappointed as the beach was only steps away without having to cross any streets. The staff was beyond friendly and attentive. We were treated very well from the first moment we walked into the lobby. Without even asking, we were given a room close to the ocean side of the hotel and given access to the Concierge Lounge on the Penthouse level with complimentary food and beverages each morning and evening. The room was excellent with terrific beds, high quality furnishings and oppulent bathrooms with tons of marble. The only small question coming out of all of this was "why are you using very thick down comforters in South Florida with 90 degree temps?" It seems that a nice blanket would have been better, but I'm sure that would not have provided the toney look and feel they are trying to achieve. The pool was nice and sparkling although the hot tub was out of commission during our stay.

I can see why people who need to be in the center of large crowds and who prefer a lot of loud nightlife with hustle and bustle would not like this place. However, if you are looking for a relaxing place on the ocean with nice accomodations and attentive service, look no further. We feel that this was an excellent value with our room rate coming in under $200 a night (AAA rate).

Marriott Hollywood Beach

The Marriott on Hollywood Beach was real treat and one of the best Marriott stays for me. First thing, there is no BOARDWALK, it's a BROAD-WALK a beautiful brick walk, knee high sandstone walls with entrance points to the beach, just completed last year. I frequent the area and I usually stay with a friend in Dania who lives less than 5 minutes from the hotel. This time I brought my partner and arrived in FL on a Sunday and instead of staying in Dania the entire trip (and cramping my friends apartment), I decided to book a 2 night stay at the Marriott, as I frequent Marriott's as a reward member. I figured Tues. and Weds. would be fine as I was to leave Thursday.
After checking in on Tuesday and spending a night on an over-sized king bed with 300 count sheets, enjoying the beautiful decor of my room, the Bath and Body products in an all marble shower and getting the best breakfast buffet (included in my room rate), I just didn't want to leave. So on Wed. I decided to see if I could stay an extra night in the same room. The staff was more than happy to accommodate my request.
Speaking of the staff, you could not get a nicer bunch of people, always ready with a smile and a hello; always ready to assist. The beach is right there, for the people that complained a lack of lounge chairs and seaweed in the ocean, there are chairs, you just have rent them for $7 or spend $2.99 for a grass mat at (Wings) one of shops just south of the hotel. As for seaweed, very little and after all, it is the Atlantic. The ocean water was perfection; healing and relaxing. There are plenty of towels at the pool to take to the beach. I prefer a "true" beach experience, (yes that includes all the sand) so my grass mat, towels and Mojito ($8 at the bar) are all I need. Breakfast buffet was the best, the regular menu is satisfactory. If you like pastry, Georgio's bakery is the place to go (about a mile south).
This is a TOP notch hotel with various amenities, spa etc.. with a lovely Caribbean feel and music in the bar with a view that's to die for. Extremely cozy and worth every last penny, which if you're looking for a $100 or under per night stay, you might want to consider something more inland. Remember the rules of real estate, location, location and beach front. I had partial view, plenty of ocean to see from my balcony, see pic (that is true pic not a postcard). I love the fact that I will earn numerous points on my Marriott reward account with this stay and I will more than likely uses those points for my next stay at this Utopian resort.
Go treat yourself, you deserve it!

We spent two nights at the Hollywood Beach Marriott and had a wonerful experience. Our 3 young children (2,5,8) accompanied us and it was a great trip for them as well.
The staff was above and beyond great. They are so helpful and courteous. We arrived long before check-in and they not only checked us in but then found us the exact accommadations we were interested in (we wanted adjoining rooms and preferred one of the rooms to have a king size bed for us). In addition, when I inquired about the nearest Publix (grocery store here in Florida) and Gina (wonderful waitress) told me it was not with in walking distance, she asked me what I was looking for and I told her a birthday cake for my oldest child who was turning 8 that day. She offerred to drive me or go pick it up when she got off her shift. Then , she came back a little while later and told me that the hotel had gone and picked up a birthday cake for our son and they suprised him with it at dinner that night! (Not only that but they insisted it was on the house!) I could go on and on about the staff but I'll give a little info about the property.
The rooms were very nicely done. Everything is new. The glass door to the bathroom that another reviewer found bothersome was not to us. It is the rippled glass that you cannot see through (other than shadows) and it does not face the public portions of the bedroom (just the hall to the bedroom). The pool is not the size I would expect at a resort but the off season had just started - so it wasn't crowded.
There is not much nearby. A few restaurants to the south on the Broadwalk - we ate away from the hotel once and were disappointed. The food at the hotel is pretty good but pricey of course. However, many of the portions were quite large (perfect for sharing).
Last, but not least, I had a sports massage at the spa that was unbelievably good.

We booked the Marriot at Hollywood Beach because of the location to the Hollywood Broadwalk. And we could not have been happier with our choice. Booked a package on line for King Room $239/night + Free Parking + $50 food credits per day. This Hotel is right on the Ocean and the Ocean was beautiful.

Staff was very courteous, room was beautiful and bed was extremely comfortable. I did not feel as if I was at a hotel on the Ocean as there was not sand all over the place as in most Ocean Front hotels.

I would highly recommend this hotel - I have included some photos of the property.
