My wife and I stayed at the Marriott Beach Resort for 1 night the end of October 2007.
As I arrived the first thing that struck me was the outside of the property was not very impressive looking. I pulled up to their valet and we were immediately greeted and assisted with our luggage. Upon entering the hotel we noticed a very nice but small lobby. Directly in front was the check-in area, to the left of that the small coffee shop selling Starbucks coffee and to the right a small gift shop.
We arrived around 11:30 AM well before the check-in time of 4:00 PM and were really just looking for a place to check our bags and change to hit the pool and beach. A very nice clerk named Natashia said she would check to see if the room we reserved was ready yet. She stated our room was not ready but she checked further and offered us a free up grade to a room that was ready that we could check into at that time. We naturally agreed to that and we were off to our room. The elevators were always available with no or a very short wait.
Upon entering the room we found the room to have dark wooden trim with a dark yellow paint. We had a seperate sitting area that had a refrigerator, a couch and chair, several magazines were on a table. The bedroom had a king sized bed, 2 chairs and a table. The dresser contained the safe and coffee set-up in the middle section. There was a small plasma TV on top of the dresser. Off the bedroom were 2 balconies one looking south and the other looking over the ocean. The one on the south side was small and not private. The one looking over the ocean was larger and more private. It had a chaise lounge and 2 small chairs with a small table.
The bathroom contained a large counter with 1 sink, and an enormously large shower. 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels and 2 wash cloths were provided along with soaps and shampoos. 2 bath robes were provided as well as a hair dryer.
The room was clean and only showed a little bit of wear. My only 2 complaints were the air conditioner was a bit loud and blew directly onto the bed and there was no light weight blanket just a sheet and a heavy comforter so we had to make the room either too cool to sleep with the comforter or too warm to sleep with just the sheet. Otherwise the bed and pillows were good.
We went downstairs to the pool area. There was a three piece group playing music in the bar area, which is next to the pool, and later a man set-up a steel drum and music equipment and was singing songs at the pool. The pool attendant provided us with towels and help set-up an umbrella for shade.
Everyone working at the hotel was very pleasant and couldn't have been more helpful. In a hurry to check out I left my camera behind in the room safe. I called the hotel from the airport and they retrieved my camera and had it shipped back to me. Which why I was able to post pictures with this review.
The location is right on the broadwalk about 6 blocks north of the commercial area of the broadwalk. The area is old style Florida with little to no modern looking buildings but seemed to be safe from what we could see in the 1 day we stayed there. I would stay here again and can recommend it to anyone considering this location.
