“Greenbriar - No More”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2009

I've been to the Greenbriar Beach Club for about 5 years straight back before Wilma had affected the Beach Club. As i returned to the Hollywood area this year; it was sad to see that the Greenbriar Beach Club was demolished.

Have just been informed by Atlantic Sands Hollywood Forums volunteer and the owners at Greenbriar that they are not completed with repairs on rooms due to Wilma, and continue to refuse rentals.

Bell, (owner) hopes all might be ready by end of Spring. As you are aware, every building and room was rebuilt (including down to wall board/plaster) about 2 years ago.

At the beginning of Easter we arrived at the Greenbriar without a reservation, luckily they had a cancellation. Our room was beyond our expectation and the hospitality was very welcoming. I plan on returning this year.

We just returned from a 10 day stay at the Greenbriar beach club in Hollywood Beach, Florida. The hotel was fabulous, in a great oceanfront location, and spotless clean. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment. Our suite was on the ground floor and our living room had a direct ocean front view. Our door was about 15 feet from the sand! The suite was larger than your standard hotel 1 bedroom suite, had a full kitchen, and was furnished nicely. The beds were very comfortable with 100% cotton sheets, two TV's (one in the living room and one in the bedroom), and the air cond. was always icy cold (necessary in August). They also served a nice continental breakfast daily. The hotel itself is in a great location. It is coeanfront, but not on the boardwalk, which is what makes it feel very private and quiet. We practically had the beach all to ourselves. So, if you want a peaceful, relaxing vacation then this is the hotel for you. I have travelled a lot and stayed in many 5 star hotels. In my opinion this hotel can stand up to any of them. It doesn't have the amenities of a large hotel, like restaraunts, room service, valet parking etc. But it does have ample free parking close to your door, a good size clean pool with lots of shade, two large gas BBQ grills for guests use, a laundry room, and really nice mosaic cement tables with tiki umbrellas at the edge of the beach. The other guests were very freindly, and though the hotel was kid freindly (we have two children), it was quiet and carried an ambiance of peace and relaxation. What you won't have to do at the greenbriar is waste precious vacation time taking elevators, waiting for the valet to bring your car, mile long walks through lobbies and past pools before you ever even see the sand, and beaches full of glass and cigarette butts! Give the Greenbriar a try, you won't be sorry! Go for a 1 bedroom suite, they are oceanfront and costed me $116 per night. I booked directly with the hotel, couldn't find any online discounts or weekly rates.

Spent two nights, Oct 25, 26. The room was adequate for two people, clean and opened up right onto the lawn area, and then beach. Nice pool area, although it wasn't on the beach, across a small road where there was another building. They had a continental breakfast from 8-10. No restaurants close need to drive a short ways. Went to the boardwalk, it is overrated! If your looking for places to eat, I would recommend going downtown. The location on the beach is good, because some areas have hardly any dry areas to sit or lay out during high tide, the beach is quite wide there.

We are just back from Florida. Made a stop at the Greenbriar, on a recomendation. Very much pleased with accomodations that are super clean and well furnished. Staff very nice. The beach has no large waves, that makes it very user friendly. A short distance to the south, of Boardwalk start, but worth the extra walk. We will be back.

My wife & I visit Hollywood 1-2x/yr., and always stay at the Greenbriar. The rates are more than reasonable, the rooms are clean & comfortable, and the hotel is right on the beach. There is plenty to do within walking distance, and major highways are 5 min. away. I wouldn't suggest the Greenbriar for the upscale traveller, but for a clean, simple place on the beach, the Greenbriar is a great choice.
