“A night from hell”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

We stayed at the Comfort Inn prior to our cruise from Ft. Lauderdale. It was over-priced and dirty. The room smelled of mold as we entered. We had waited over an hour for the shuttle at the airport and were not disposed for the chaos in registration. When we went to the bar for food, the pool area was overcrowded with guests and the deli was manned by a browbeaten young woman. The food took as long as the shuttle to arrive. The only decent thing we had was the beer. The next morning, shuttles to the ships were better organized, but slow in arriving. The hotel needs considerable updating and ranks as the worst that we have ever stayed in.

Have travelled extensively and never have I stayed in a more filthy disgusting hotel as this one! Spent one night here as was taking a cruise and since they offer complimentary pick up from the airport and then shuttle service to the pier it was a no brainer. Well check in was a nightmare, a lobby full of people w/ suitcases in hand no order as far as where to line up to check in, what a mess! Finally get checked in and off to our room. OMG, orange bedspreads covered with stains and even cigarette burnings all over them. The room smelled, the bathroom was nasty dirty, dirt and smudge marks on walls, light plate switches, etc., Molding on floor peeling away and just dangling. SEE A COUPLE PHOTO'S I TOOK... I should have thought to take a picture of the grotesque bedspreads but upon seeing all the nastiness all over them I literally ripped them off the beds and through them on the floor. As far as their breakfast, what an unorganized mess. Seriously, trying to eat off of plastic/paper plates that were so thin one swipe using the plastic utensils and you had leakage in your lap. So over $200+ to spend the night in this dump, had no choice as I had overheard at check in they were turning people away on the phone as they were booked. Well duh, there were 3 different cruise ships leaving the following morning! So if you're just there to crash and hitch a ride to the pier, have something nasty to eat in the morning just to fill your belly and don't mind dirt, smell, etc., I say go for it!

We chose this hotel for a one-night post cruise stay. Our main criteria was the free airport shuttle . . . you get what you pay for!
We called the hotel from the airport at 1:05 to tell of our arrival. The clerk said the shuttle would be there in "20 minutes." We called an hour later, and were told the shuttle would be there in "20 minutes." Bottom line - we arrived at the hotel at 3:05! The lobby was full of people sitting around with their luggage. This was because no rooms were available. Now, check-in was 4:00, so we guessed people would be set up soon. The clerk said our rooms would be ready in about "20 minutes." After 30 minutes we asked again, and were told that lots of people wanted to check in, so it would be another "20 minutes!" Bottom line - we got in our room a bit after 4:30! Why did nobody tell us the real timeline?
The room was mostly clean, but tired. The rollaway bed was eventually delivered. The room was so small, it had to be put in front of the door.
Breakfast was fine, nothing fancy. Luckily we had a great shuttle driver in the morning.
Never will stay here again

We stayed for an overnight after a cruise for one evening. As you drive up it has a caribbean motive and looks like a nice place. the lobby is decorated nicely with an island flavor. but as we started to look around it needs some severe TLC. The pool area is great, there is a little bar but is very run down and appears dirty. pool bathrooms need severe overhaul. generally, very run down. I was concerned for the condition of the room but was pleasantly surprised that they had been updated. The bathrooms were completely updated and looked brand new. furniture is nice and carpeting looked relatively new. Although there is a major musty smell in the rooms leading you not to want to linger in the room. So we sat at the pool area which was great. I think everyone felt the same because the pool area was full for most of the evening until late. I think this hotel might be in transition and with a little love and updating it could be a cute little hotel. I am giving it a poor due to the condition of the overall condition of the hallways, buildings and walkways, these were certainly in need of updating. I would not stay there again due to those reasons. There is a brand new Hampton Inn right next door that is completely updated.

Room Tip: go to another hotel

I've stayed at this hotel a few times over the years. What really makes this hotel special is the little tiki - pool side bar. "Kim" the bartender is fantastic, she make everyone feel welcome and goes out of her way to ensure everyone feels at home. I'll keep coming back when it the area.

We have been staying here every year for 9 years. Nice stop before heading to the Bahamas. It just makes it easier to spend the night coming from Pittsburgh. Our rooms are always clean with plenty of towels and coffee for the am. It is comfortable. We spend the night hanging by the pool at the Tiki bar. We meet another couple here. We enjoy Pam the bartender. See you on the 13th Pam. Have a landshark ready for us. The breakfast alone is worth the stay!

The night we stayed the hotel was overbooked and we had a smoking room. When we requested a change they told us they could not. The rook appeared to be from the 70's, old carpet and old furniture. The matrress was extremely poor and saggy. The bathroom was clean. Breakfast was sparse at best.
