We stayed here 2 nights post-cruise so we could get at least a little beach time before leaving Florida. This is a small mom & pop "old Florida" type hotel, not modern and luxurious, but clean, affordable and you can't beat the location. Our room was spacious enough and had a little kitchenette with full-size fridge- very convenient. My husband & I would happily return and spend a week here - our parents, however, would probably check-in at the nearby Marriott (we were perfectly content here, but for them it was "roughing it").
We had an oceanfront room (#1) - literally, our window was right on the boardwalk, people walking by could watch us sleeping if we didn't close the blinds. The boardwalk and beach were just a few steps away from our room, we loved it! This hotel also has a courtyard with a tiki bar and live music. We didn't hang out there much because it was too cool & windy for the parents. I got the idea that on a typical Fri. or Sat. night, this would be party central, but since it was pretty chilly when we were there, everyone cleared out once the sun went down. So it probably worked out for the best - I don't think the noise would've bothered us much, but our parents definitely would've been griping.
Also have to mention Nick's Bar & Restaurant, which we came across on the Boardwalk. We stopped in one night for drinks and oysters - great margaritas! Then we went back the next day for lunch and dinner. The food and atmosphere were great! We fell in love with Hollywood and will definitely make it back to spend more time!
