I've been here twice. Once to the northern part where Hooters and the bigger eating/drinking establishments are. It was ok, good place to walk for a bit, listen to some live music or bad karaoke, drink and people watch. The second time was to the less crowded southern portion.

There were the usual touristy shops and small overpriced eateries. There's a stage where a large crowd was awaiting a concert and super smelly public bathrooms. Watch out for the bike path; these people will ride bikes like they drive, aggressive and won't stop for anyone!

Disappointed in the beach itself; I found it to be really dirty and not a lot of trees for shade. I can't see this being a relaxing place to spend a day at the beach.

Overall, I can see it being fun if you want to drink and relax with your friends, listen to some music and walk around. I most likely will not come back after these two visits. I'd rather drive up Hollywood Blvd and hit up the stores in the "downtown" area.

We were expecting a clean beach and ocean water due to the blue wave designation but were disappointed with the amount of trash, litter, and cigarette butts in the sand and floating in the water. We have been to many other Florida beach areas and have never seen this much. Don't understand why since there are trash receptacles everywhere, there just seem to be many unaware or careless visitors to this area. It is too bad, because the setting is very beautiful, with nice palms right on the beach, and the interesting people watching on the broadwalk. Biiking the path was great fun, with the north end being much nicer with fewer people to ride around (some seem to not understand the bike path is for bikes and the rest of the broadwalk is for walking). There was also a huge amount of seaweed in the water, most of the time you could swim out beyond it, but it was not fun to wade through at the water's edge. This was more that usual according to locals we talked to, maybe more of a summer thing. The buildings in the area are very old, some are maintained better that others. Overall, it was an interesting place to visit, but they need to start ticketing people who litter and clean it up.

Have stayed at The Ramada Beach Resort twice now and going back again. Old historic hotel/resort, lots of rooms, time share rentals. Has convenient store in lobby, lots of shops, bars , restaurants, pool, right on boardwalk and beach. Great location. Youcan walk for miles and take in all the restaurants and bars on the boardwalk. Nats is hiddem gem small restaurant next to Ramada, doors away, excellent food andstaff. Highly recommend staying anywhere along Boardwalk. You might notice background of boardwalk area on Tv show, Burn Notice take a look sometime. GL, MrsMJB, Quincy, Ma.

As the others have stated I could only feel that this is a place whose current ambience cannot last. To have such a beautiful beachfront area basically directed at the middle class, in this day and age, is a rare find. Others certainly will be driven to make it more upscale and generic and you can see the signs that they have begun. I felt as though I were in a time warp and that this little gem somehow had dropped off the radar at some point. There is no phoney old-time decor, it is the real thing. I hope they do a good job on the Ramada renovation because it is an original 1920's resort structure, The broadwalk is delightful and entices you to get out and walk at all times of the day. It is lined on one side with shops, hotels/motels and restaurants and the gorgeous beach on the other side. To see such a collection of small, well-maintained, affordable motels in close proximity to the beach is unbelievable. The beach itself is very clean, with multiple active lifeguard stations and protected natural vegetation. You don't want to come here if you are searching for nightlife or water sports. But if you want to stroll on or by the beach, swim, interact easily with others and casually dine out, Hollywood Beach will exceed your expectations.
