The Westin Diplomat in Hollywood, FL was a fantastic property. Several pools offered plenty of places to unwind, and the beach is literally steps away. Rooms with views of the water cannot be beat. The decor in the lobby and in the guestrooms was well-coordinated, though it is a step below what you see at designer hotels.
The guestrooms are quite spacious. Bathrooms are large, with comfortable bathtubs and separate shower stalls. The beds are comfortable, as one would expect from a Westin. While my room had a balcony, the fact that I was on the 30th floor kept me from exploring it. If you don't mind heights, I imagine it's quite nice.
In general, the dining options were acceptable. The breakfast buffet is exactly what you would expect from an above-average hotel; there were no pleasant surprises. Hollywood Prime, the steakhouse, was a disappointment, though. The food was acceptable (not amazing), but the service was abysmal. I'd like to think I caught them on the wrong night, but I have to report what I experienced.
