“Nice place to have a conference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

Very nice resort. Extremely clean and well kept. The room was spotless, beds were VERY comfortable and pillows in all firmness available right on the bed! The shower was really awesome!!! Very friendly staff. Ask for an ocean view! The vendor hall was very nice and the banquet room was very well orchestrated. Our waiters Mauricio and Roberto were some of the best wait staff ever. The onsite restaurants are a little on the expensive side but the food is excellent so you really don't mind that much. The breakfast buffet is very good, 25.00 but includes a lot so eat breakfast and lunch together to get your monies worth. Have Quesny at the omelet bar make you one of his fantastic omelets. He even will make you an egg white omelet! Beer and cocktails are very high priced and I do mind that. The water taxi is right across the street from the resort and a nice way to see Ft. Lauderdale. A Hardrock Casino is about 10 minutes away and it is connected to a shopping area and restaurants. All in all the Westin Hollywood resort is a great place to stay and enjoy not only a conference but a vacation with the family.

Room Tip: Choose a room with an ocean view.

Skyscraper view of the pool and of Hollywood, Fl, was a real thrill. On a family vacation, we enjoyed the privacy and quiet of this executive-like posh hotel. There was not much need for leaving the site as the pool was a treat for the kids with its glass bottom view of its lower pool and a nice restaurant for the family just a walk away. Hollywood itself was a disappointment, dirty and boardwalk-like, but for a few days tops the Diplomat was memorable.

To celebrate our anniversary and a birthday we felt a trip to sunny Florida would be perfect. We booked a great air & hotel package through Spirit Airlines. We decided on the Westin Diplomat as it was close to both South Beach and Fort Lauderdale. We had taken a red-eye flight so we arrived to the hotel around 8:30AM. We especially want to say thank you to Dave Stewart (Registration Desk) who did not make us wait until mid-afternoon to give us a room. Based on reviews we knew to ask for a corner suite upon check-in. Dave told us he was going to give us one of his favorite rooms and what do you know...it was a corner suite on the 19th floor with amazing views of the beach, city and intracoastal waterway. He also sent us a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries! Very nice touch and great customer service! The staff at the hotel were all very professional, polite and helpful.

A couple of things you should know...self-parking is $20/day but is located directly across the street so we decided to pay the extra $5/day to valet. Make sure to call ahead for your car as it takes about 10-15 minutes depending on time of day for valet to bring it. South Beach is about 30 minutes by car and Fort Lauderdale is about 20 minutes. Hollywood has a downtown area that is pedestrian friendly with a lot of restaurants and shops. Great place to hang out. There is also an area on the beach that is called the "Broadwalk". There you will find many restaurants and shops as well. We took the trolley to the Broadwalk. The hotel has two really nice pool areas but we prefer the beach. There are lounge chairs, beach beds and umbrellas available for rent on the beach in front of the hotel. There is a small cafe similar to a Starbucks that you can grab coffee, smoothies, sandwiches and desserts. Servers do come out to the beach for drink and food orders. We would definitely recommend renting a car if you are going to be there for a few days as there are not a lot of restaurants within walking distance. Also, if you plan on going to the Everglades to see alligators or taking a helicopter tour like we did, having a car is convenient.

The hotel does a lot of convention business but we also saw many families. We would definitely stay at the Westin Diplomat again. Very enjoyable stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a corner suite on a high floor! Each day you do not require clean linens the hotel will giv...

Amazing weekend. Located right on the beach it's the perfect location to relax and enjoy with the family. The hotel has two beautiful pools to choose froom. One of them has a waterfall and if u look up, there's a transparent glass showing you the bottom of the other pool. The last night there we ate at the restaurant located inside the hotel, Hollywood Prime. It was the best steak I have ever tried. So tender and soft. Wow! speachless.

Stayed here for four nights for a conference and cannot complain! Great staff, and everything ran smoothly. I spent a lot of time at the pools, and enjoyed the beach some. Prices are a bit high at the resort, but I guess what can you expect. Our view from our room was amazing!! Right above the pool with an ocean view! I enjoyed sitting on our balcony in afternoons when I tired of the pool. The steak house is TO DIE FOR, but make reservations.

Corner room with city and beach view spectacular. Property was very clean and neat. Observed staff straightening chairs or tables, picking up left cups etc as they walked through the public areas. Everyone seemed to have pride in the Hotel. Great pool with lots of varied lounging options from all sun to all shade, active and quiet. Great to have also be right on the beach which was well maintained (by outside company). Good selection of restaurants. Bathrooms could use more towel racks. There were non near the sink area. Staff always eager to accommodate our needs. Plenty of beach activities like jet sky, parasailing etc if you wanted.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for corner city and beach view room at least 8 floor up.

We stayed at the property for one night as a stop over before driving to marco island. The hotel was very busy during the Labor Day weekend but the staff was on top of it. Check in for spg gold and plat members were quick and easy. Complimentary room upgrade was given without asking on top of a choice of free drink or Internet or points. The hotel seemed to take care the plat members well as they were automatically upgraded to club level ocean front room.

The beach and the pools were the main reason we chose this property over other spg hotels in the area. The hotel was on the beach - no need to cross the road and it was very nice. The sand was smooth and the water was clear. If you come to the beach early enough you can see small fish swimming in the shallow area. Kids loved them.

The main pool next to the beach was nice for kids as well. The infinity almost zero entry pool was good for babies. Although most of the times teenagers and couples used it as a hangout place during our stay.

This is a large convention hotel with good amenities for conventioneers. With that being said, be prepared to meet a bunch of drunk people wondering around the pool and beach area at night. Security was present during the day but not at night to prevent non guests from entering and using the beach and pools.

Room Tip: Ocean view at south tower high floor (10 floor and up) is worth an upgrade.
