We stay at the Diplomat for a week with our 3 kids. We had a corner suite and a Grand Deluxe connecting room. I could write a 3 pages of bad services, experiences and disappointments.
In conclusion, the accommodation needs to be clean and service just doesn't exit.
1- Room FULL of black spots and very dusty.
2- Terrible service -Especially from the housekeeping. Don't waste your time calling the 0 Express service... If you really need something just call the manager.

I stayed in Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Dec/2007 for a conference.
Their lobby is really nice/modern looking with great view to the pool and beach. Just steps away from the beach!!
I liked my room in general except that I found some black spots on the carper and my bed. I found it cool that the room connects to the bathroom so you get to watch TV while relaxing in the tub.
The food was not too great. Maybe because we were in big group...
Also, they charge too much for everything (parking, phone, internet, room service...).
I would stay there if I had a good deal but not if I had to pay the full price.

My husband, 13 yr old daughter, and I stayed here from 12/21-12/25. The property is beautiful! It is very clean and beautifully decorated, especially with all the Christmas decorations. There are a lot of kids here, but then again, it was Christmas break season. The location is not too far from the Ft. Lauderdale airport or the downtown area. I loved the fact that the property is directly on the beach.

Although the rooms are well laid out, they are small. We stayed on the 14th floor. Any higher would be too high in my opinion. They have a starbucks on property, which was convenient. We also ate at aZia, which was good. I do understand the complaints about high prices, but when you're staying at an expensive property, things are going to be pricey.

There were two complaints that we had. The first is the conceirge. They were understaffed most of the time and they weren't really helpful. They either were too inexperienced or didn't care enough to really help you out. The other one was that the spa is in a completely different facility (The Diplomat Resort & Country Club). It is not on property. I would have definitely used the spa, but because I had to take a shuttle a mile away, it was too much of a hassle. I think they shouldn't advertise it as 'resort & spa' when the spa is not even walking distance. So if you're looking for a spa to unwind in at the end of the day, then be prepared to take a shuttle a mile away and come back. Besides that, the last appointment is at 7, so what's the point?

Overall, it's a beautiful and clean property and we enjoyed ourselves.

The rooms were very well appointed, but on the 27th floor the view of the sea/ swimming pool below was not for anyone with vertigo!
If you are young and like a busy environment with loud music all the time and lots of eye candy, then this is the place for you!
However we found it very noisy and crowded. You had to be down by 6.30 - 7.00am to get a lounger. You could rent loungers on the beach but this cost extra as did sunshades and you had approx 10 ft sq to move around. In the pm the beach was covered in shade from all the high rise hotels lining it and the beach itself was quite dirty. They had a sweet little childrens' area with a toy boat and buckets/shovels etc and the kids kept themselves amused for a couple of hours in the shade.
The coast along this area is extremely built up- so you get a view of masses of high rises for miles and miles into the distance.
We were actually visiting a family staying there - I would not recommend this for families with young children. They said it was very noisy at night too.
