Many boardwalks today are just upscale traps, showcasing pricey clothing stores and fancy restaurants. The Hollywood Boardwalk is the way they used to be. It has blocks and blocks of modest establishments, nicely kept up, along a wide sidewalk boardwalk fronting a beautiful beach. On the land side, there's an array of restaurants, ice cream parlors, and small stores, many with tables inviting you to sit and enjoy. The range of ethnic restaurants is impressive, from Turkish and Russian, to French and Italian, and there's a number of places that seem to be transplants from New York City. Prices are reasonable and service people are friendly.
