“Great location, free airport shuttle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

We arrived on Saturday and stayed just one night before our cruise left on Sunday. Hotel provides a free shuttle from the airport, just call the hotel when you get your luggage and they will send the shuttle to get you. The hotel can arrange a shuttle to the cruise port for $10/person, but it is provided by an off-facility service. I inquired about the cruise port shuttle at check-in and was told the first available shuttle would be at 12:30 pm. I really wanted to be at the port a little earlier so we decided to arrange a taxi.

The hotel is just a short walk to shopping so after check-in we walked to BJ's warehouse store to purchase our 2-bottle wine allotment for the cruise. You do not have to be a member to purchase liquor at this store.

The hotel room was clean and comfortable, air conditioning worked just fine. Breakfast was provided and was just okay. The scrambled eggs were a bit salty for my taste and the oatmeal was very good.

As we were waiting for our taxi to the cruise port in the morning, one of the shuttles showed up and had room, so we cancelled the cab and jumped on that 10:30 am shuttle for $10/person (cash, paid to the shuttle driver).

This is a convenient location near the airport at a reasonable price so I would stay there again if it was just a quick overnight stay. If I was staying longer than one night, I would probably prefer a hotel closer to the beach.

I was disappointed that I could not do an early check in but other than that, it was a wonderful hotel experience for me and my children. There was a shopping plaza around the corner and restaurants within walking distance.

1st make sure you have the right hotel. This is the one on Stirling Rd, in Hollywood, just off I-95. Not sure why you would stay here for a cruise, there are much better and closer ones.

Now to the hotel -- the staff was very pleasant and helpful, especially the lady doing the breakfeast. The public part of the hotel was clean and in good condition. The room was very clean, comfortable, and everything was in good condition. The bed was comfortable and using duvet covers that can be washed instead of old bedspreads is a great idea. The rest of the bedding was in good condition.

I would recommend staying here.

I would like to thank you for choosing the Hampton Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport / Cruise Port South and for taking the time in posting this review. It is very disturbing to hear that we were not able to provide the service not quality that Hilton is known for. We do have a renovation scheduled for this year and hope you would be able to honor us with a second opportunity to provide you with the service that Hilton is known for. I would like to apologize for this inconvenience during your vacation.

I was displeased and would not have stayed if I had seen room first. Check in was disappointing too. I have stayed in many Hampton Inn hotels and this was by far the worse. Not a good Hampton Inn. I will continue to use other Hampton Inn hotels.

I booked the Hampton Inn Ft. Lauderdale-Airport. It comes up in your search as a Fort Lauderdale airport hotel, but it is in Hollywood, on Stirling Road. It does NOT have a free shuttle to the cruise port, but it does have a free shuttle from the airport, which we experienced, and it was not good. The van was small, one side entrance, and we had to crawl to the back seat through a 12 inch wide opening past 6 other people. The windows did not open, and they were steamed up because the AC was not blowing good, and it needed to be! If you like small, cramped spaces with no air flow, you will like this shuttle. It is a small dark van, not a large one with flamingos on top, that must be another Hampton. This shuttle to the cruise port is 10 per person, but we took a taxi which was about the same or less, and we could breathe. Do not let the shuttle be the main selling point for you, book a nice hotel and pay for a taxi. The other Hampton inn has a Ft. Lauderdale address and calls itself Hampton Inn Ft. Lauderdale airport north cruise port. I thought that was the one I booked. This hotel is fine, nice, small but modern lobby, room fine, hallways, doors, woodwork scuffed but not bad. Breakfast not worth considering. We passed. Walking distance to: Taco Bell, McDonalds, Chipotle, Kmart, liquor store, Big Lots, Marshalls, and short taxi ride or long walk to Red Lobster or Ale House.

Room Tip: Top floor was quiet.
