My husband and I had eaten in this restaurant about five years ago and had found the food to be superb. Unfortunately, our second experience was a disappointment. For starters, there was a cigar shop located next door and the owners had their door open the entire time while we were having dinner. It appeared as if the odor from the cigars was seeping through the ventilation and into the restaurant. My husband and I could smell the smoke while we ate, and believe me, it was quite annoying. Secondly, our food wasn't all that enjoyable except for the spring rolls we ordered. We found the Pad Thai to be a little bland and the beef that was in our garlic and vegetable stir fry was somewhat on the tough side. We remembered that these were the two same dishes we ordered the last time we were here, but as the saying goes, "Nothing Good Lasts Forever." On the way out we asked the hostess if any other customers ever complained about the cigar smoke. She confirmed that many did and apologized.
I understand that the Sake Thai & Sushi Bar has been a favorite among Hollywood residents for several years, but I feel it has gone downhill since the last time I ate here. I don't know what it was. There may be new owners or the chef might have taken a day off. Whatever the reason though, the fact still remains that someone needs to speak to the owner of the cigar shop next door.
