“Nice location and pleasant staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2009

When we first saw the hotel i feel bad because it was an old hotel but when i got into the room i was so surprised, the room was nice and big , it has kitchen and the view was owesome. And the front desk staff was great, they are very pleasant and accomodating. Nice location for an old hotel.

My boyfriend and I went there to celebrate my 21st bday and see myh fam. Our OceanView Suite was great, the bed was big and comfortable and people were friendly. It was by the boardwalk and the beach. Convenient store right downssatirs and other shops. There's a great, friendly bar/pub downstairs by the boardwalk. The hotel was also near a lot of restaurants. Its bout 20 25 min drive to Miami, Casino and the big mall. Also other bars, lounges n shopping areas. It was beautiful, cant wait to go back and see how the place will look after renovations r done. For people that say service wasnt great and employees were mean are crazy mayb u ppl had attitudes. What part of RENOVATING the hotel dunt yall understand??get over it. Anyways would recommend =)

The room was greeat! We had 2 adults and 2 children and we were comfortable & the kitchenette was very useful. The location is fantastic the hotel is right on the boardwalk, the beach is awesome, the bar was great! The bar has delicious food, and it's a beach type of pub, so the kids can come from the pool and have lunch and it was great they didn't have to get dressed or anything. The menu says, no shirt, no shoes, NO PROBLEM!! lol There's also a pizza place down stairs that was delicous!! My complain was the pool, althoughi t is as big as the picture displays...the entire pool is 4 to 5 feet deep. They are very strict with the kids, they couldn't jump or play to much, and the pool closes at 8 Pm, the pool was to strict for our style, the pool employees really take their jobs very serious. You don't have to worry about overpacking, because the have a mini market in teh lobby, and the strip has everyting you can imagine. Beware the parking cost $15 a day, it's waste of money because the parking garage isn't connected to the hotel so either way you have to walk to the hotel with ALL your stuff...if I have to walk to the hotel I'd rather park down the street for free. Overall it's a good family environment. I can't wait to go again.

After reading previous reviews, I was rather worried about this hotel, fortunately I was relieved upon arrival. My girlfriends and I (three total) like to get together once a year and we like a hotel that is near the beach and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Budget is also a factor. This hotel worked perfectly for us. Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted and even though we were early we were able to get a room. Our first room did not work out at as I had requested 2 double beds and we were given a queen. As we were discussing what to do the phone rang and it was the front desk asking if all was okay. I thought that was quite courteous for them to call - I told them about the beds and they told us they would look to see if they could find another room that would work. About 20 minutes later they found a room that had the twin beds and were offered that. It had been remodeled, granite counters, nice decor so we were very happy to switch. There was a kitchenette, living room with sofa and lounge chair and table with 4 chairs and a bedroom. The view was gorgeous, oceanfront, both in the living room and bedroom. Only problems were the windows - only one of them could be opened. They had tv's in both rooms. One day we didn't have maid service so we called and they came while we were out to dinner. They have a convenience store in the lobby, along with other gift stores so that was an added bonus. We enjoyed the adjoining restaurant/bar O'Malleys, great ocean views, drinks - the chicken quesadilla and nachos were very good. There were lots of restaurants within walking distance - our favorite was Las Palmas, on the canal. We went to Taverna Opa which was also on the canal and enjoyed the fun atmosphere, belly dancer and customers dancing on the tables, food was very good but music was very loud and nonstop. Another place we went was Nick's Bar and Grill right on the broadwalk (some Marley and Me scenes were filmed there). Food was okay but being right on the beach with live music was fun. The beach was gorgeous, sand very soft, we were able to rent chairs to take to the beach for $3 at the hotel's pool. There was an independent service on the beach that rented out cabanas and lounge chairs - cost was $20/day for two or $27/day for three.

The hotel could definitely use some serious upgrades, but my wife and I really enjoyed our time there and loved the location. I would definitely stay there again if I'm back in Hollywood, mainly because of the location.

Dear Guest,

Your kind words and recommendations really made my day. You certainly didn't have to do that... but please know how much I appreciate that you did. We are undergoing some renovations to restore the grand old lady back to it's prime..Thank you so much.

From reading the reviews I was prepared for the worst. It turned out to be not as bad. Pleasant staff at reception. The hotel is very old and wasn't renovated in a loooong time. It is maintained at the minimum. There are smoking rooms at the hotel so in addition to the rotten smell in the hallway you could smell cigarette smoke, but inside the room it was fine. The sheets were clean and there were many pillows to choose from. The towels were not ideally clean but usable. Internet worked just fine in the room. The AC was quite loud. The fridge broke the next day but they quickly fixed it. Complementary breakfast buffet style was all right: a choice of cereal, muffins, bagels and toasts, cream cheese and jam, some other pastry that I didn't try because it looked kind of old. For an extra $$ you could get eggs. There is a kitchenette and dishes in the room. However, there was no dish washing liquid, so we left our plates dirty in the sink. The next day we came back really late and had to check out really early to catch the flight. We found the liquid and our dirty dishes. Good thing they didn't leave a laundry detergent and expect us to change our bedding and do the laundry:) Parking is quite expensive $18 valet or $15 at the nearby parking garage. You can also park on the street for $1 per hour or free for the night till 8AM. The location is great, there is an access to the public beach and to boardwalk. Overall it is ok but really overpriced for what you get.
