“Ocean Inn is a win!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2012

My wife and I recently stayed in the Ocean Inn for our honeymoon, as we were escaping the spring break crowd in the Keys. We couldn't have been happier with the accommodations and the service. The outdoor patio/garden is a perfect place to hang and swing around in the hammock. The rooms are like mini-apartments. The two we stayed in were cutely decorated in a very "Florida" motif, and there was plenty of space, including a kitchen, couch area, dining area, and shower/tub. One of the best things about it is the location. From the rooms, the view might not be very breathtaking, but the boardwalk is less than 50 meters from the front door and is a great place for a romantic walk or to get a bite to eat. The beach along the boardwalk is beautiful, but for an even prettier locale take a drive up Ocean Drive to the state park at the end of the island (about 5 minutes by car). The beaches there were wonderful and it's a perfect place to bring a family. There is also kayaking 10 minutes away in the Ann Kolb Nature Center, and plenty of trails to walk. Also, for night life and good food, check out Hollywood Blvd (about 10 minutes by car). A+

We stayed at Ocean Inn for a week. Never had so much fun. Totally felt taken care of. Phillip was wonderful in making our stay fun, even though there was that mine thing in the ocean and a scare we might have to evacuate. Phillip made it fun. We went to Phillip for places to eat and things to do. Everything he suggested was great. Oh and on Valentine's Day we received a balloon and candy. Loved the court yard. We would have drinks and play cards there. We were close to the boardwalk and beach. Love Love Love the area.

We would like to thank Scott and Phillip for their excellent and friendly hospitality during our brief stay at Ocean Inn while visiting with cousins in the area. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had personal attention, and warmth extended to us humans and to our accompanying furry son. The pleasant courtyard protected us from the outside winds while we snacked on freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, and the muffins and coffee the next morning. The room was well stocked with all the amenities we could desire, including complimentary razor and shaving cream! We slept well in a comfortable bed. No doubt we would stay there again when coming back to the area.

The Ocean Inn was a quiet and cozy little garden away from the sun and sand. The court yard with its gentle fountain and shady plantings was the perfect place for this sunburn prone northerner to hide from solar noon and sip a beer. Glenn, the weekend inn keeper, made yummy fresh muffins and was such a sweetie. Thanks for the great rainy day chats Mr. Glen! I am super picky and found everything to my satisfaction or above! I will be returning here. -Amy S

Do you want to be treated like a queen (or king)? Scott, Phillip and Pilar will make sure you are if you stay at Ocean Inn! Our room was just over 100 steps to the sand on Hollywood Beach-the waves were just a few steps more!! I have only stayed at Big Name hotels and was looking for a place between Ft. Lauderdale and Hallandale somewhat last minute, when I stumbled on these independent SSL (Superior Small Lodging) places. I read the reviews, talked to Scott on the phone and the price was great, but not so low that there were red flags. The room/studio apartment we stayed in (#19) was big-very open with windows on 3 sides. The kitchen was bigger than in my first apartment. The decor isn't perfectly matched, but really is that important when you're as close to the beach as this place is? The yellow tub and toilet were very retro, but worked just fine. The parking is free and very close. The courtyard is amazing-the pictures online are nice, but real life is even better! Very tropical, private and just spectacular. My husband spent several hours on the hammock. They provide beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, and some toys at no extra cost. We awoke each morning to the smell of fresh muffins baking, as they set out some items for a quick breakfast. Our room had a full kitchen, so stocking the big fridge was easy. It was so nice to go to the store, get food for a few days and have lunch at one of the tables in the courtyard, or take snacks to the beach. The rooms are pretty quiet, we heard our next door neighbors slam their door twice and we only heard the people above us once when they must have dropped something big. I was able to use the computer in the office to check in for the flight home and print out our boarding passes. Scott & Phillip are very helpful and truly want to make sure you enjoy your time at Ocean Inn. Pilar cleaned our room every day, and even put away the dishes I had left drying in the rack. I was nervous about staying on the 1st floor because I hate bugs, and they seem to always find their way in Florida rooms. In the 4 days we were there I did not see ONE bug in the room : ) My husband and I are in our 40s, have many years of travel experience and we will return to Ocean Inn.

Room Tip: Our room, #19 was great for us. Big with lots of light. My husband's elderly father was able to...

I often like to take a little over-night mini-vacation away from my home in Orlando. This past Thursday and Friday, I decided to travel down to the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood area. Not really sure of the accomodations and prices available, I picked up a brochure at one of the Travel Plaza stops along the Fl. Turnpike. After looking at several of the ads for the hotels and inns available, I noticed an ad for the Ocean Inn on North Ocean Drive and decided to call for availability. I was connected to one of the on-site managers of the Inn, Philip Friday, and he immediately found two rooms open for myself and my best friend. The rates were extremely affordable and when we arrived, we found ourselves in a little bit of Eden on Earth. The rooms were fresh and airy and completely delightful and the staff at the Inn were fabulous! To top everything off, we were, literally, 120 yards from the Atlantic Ocean and the famous Hollywood Broadwalk. We were very centrally located between beach activities and phenomenal dining and night life activities. Each of our rooms were packed with little unexpected ammenities and the staff practically turned themselves inside-out to assure a wonderful stay. We enjoyed ourselves so much that upon check-out, we immediately booked two rooms for next month when we will be attending an event in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. If you are not sure where you want to stay when in this area, don't even think twice....stay at the Ocean Inn!!!!! Their motto is true, "We want to get you in bed!"

Room Tip: Each room is decorated in a different tropical motif and color. They are airy and bright and all sh...

What a great place. Didn't know such places existed but we do now. From beginning to end Phillip was such a sweetie. He made our stay the best ever- always a smile to greet you ,assisted with restaurant selections(Opa Taverna was a blast), introduced us to other guests, and brought us warm choc.chip cookies. What more could you ask for. Can't wait to go back. Thanks Phillip !!

Room Tip: Pick a larger unit in case of inclement weather.
