Last time I went to Mama Mia was 3 years ago, and I loved it. This time, I was very disappointed. I got there at around 5 or so. No hostess anywhere (apparently her hours start at 6). So I walk inside, there's staff standing around but no one interested in helping you. Eventually I had to convince a server to seat me. The menu is different and my favorite dish wasn't there anymore. Ordered a Filet Mignon and salad. The salad was average. While I'm eating at one of the outside tables and battling the aggressive flies some fellow arrives who apparently was some acquaintance of the restaurant staff. Next thing I know one by one the server girls are stopping by his table and telling him rather loudly some vile stories. These girls are basically screaming in the foulest language you can imagine, while patrons are trying to eat at the next tables. What on earth is going on there? Who manages that place?
Finally when my filet arrived I was surprised at how the chose to prepare it: they first cooked it and then grilled it! That's not how you prepare steak. As a result it felt and tasted somewhat odd. Now my server, was very well aware that I wasn't happy with service and she didn't make any effort to modify her slow ways as she made sure she helped anyone else before me. That sort of behavior is what one gets to experience in that town, but I wasn't expecting it at an expensive restaurant. And I recall service actually being pretty good in the past. This will be probably my last visit there since there's no shortage of Italian restaurants in Hollywood.
