Pros: 1) The hotel is in a great location. 2) Free shuttle service to various locations in Gainesville, including the airport (pick-up and drop-off) is a real bonus for those with no car. 3) free internet service with two computers and printer in lobby for those without laptop; free wifi service in rooms. 4) Room is of adequate size and bed is comfortable

Cons: 1) The room's cleanliness left much to be desired. I found a plastic cup with coke in it under the bed from the last guest. Also, there was dirt (I think from the crumbling wall above) all over the bathroom counter. 2) Air conditioning in the room came from one of those old box units that you used to put in your window in college. Air conditioning in the hallway also came from a similar unit which happened to be right outside my bedroom -- super noisy!

Pros:
Clean
Great location if you're visiting the school
Great service
Free drink coupons at the restaurant if you're Priority Club (try the chicken philly, it's fantastic)

Cons:
Old
Musty smelling rooms
Fitness room is barebones

A decent value, and even though it's older, not a bad place.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. While the property itself is older, we do our best to maintain it and focus on our guests needs. For your next visit, please look into signing up for our Gator VIP Program. Among its several perks, we have partnered with the best gym in town and will provide you with complimentary passes if you prefer to use a full gym during your visit. We are also glad you enjoyed your meal at the restaurant. Upon your next stay, you will notice that some changes will have taken place, as Beef O'Brady's will be replacing our current restuarant later this fall. Again, thank you for sharing your needs with us - taking care of you is our top priority. Please do come and stay with us again soon.

This is a fairly old Holiday Inn (It would have to be -- it was there when I was a student! Go Gators!), but it has been completely refurbished and is very nice. It isn't elegant, but it is modern and clean and a good, solid choice. The location is UNBEATABLE -- right on the corner of University and 13th and right down the street from The Swamp. All of the action (sporting events, bars, restaurants, gift shops...) are within very easy walking distance, and many are right across the street.

On previous stays in Gainesville (many, many), I've avoided the HI because their game-weekend rates are almost double and usually a two-night minimum is required. There are many hotels near UF that are far cheaper and just as nice, or nicer, but you have to drive to the game and park a fairly long way away. But I'm rethinking my opinion. Yes, it cost more, but is was SO convenient to be that close to everything. And the hotel is much nicer (seemingly) than it used to be. Parking was free and safe and extremely convenient. The rooms are nice and the pool is nicer. They have an attached restaurant with extremely cheap gameday specials!

A special mention to the four girls at the front desk. They were so professional and nice and helpful, they really made our stay a lot more enjoyable. Thank you.

Our stay at this hotel was great. My husband was having surgery at Shands & the hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to & from the hospital. The hotel was clean and the service by the staff was impeccable; they went above & beyond to meet all of my needs while I was there. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Taking care of our guests is our first priority - especially those who are staying with us for medical needs. It is our pleasure to make you feel welcome and take care of you while you are away from the comfort of your home. We hope your husband is on the mend, and look forward to seeing you again soon, hopefully under better circumstances.

Best Regards.

This hotel is a older hotel but right next to the University. I stayed here for business in Hawthorne, FL and it was a straight shot. You get vouchers when you check in for drinks and breakfast at the hotel restaurant so not a bad deal. Front desk staff were very friendly outgoing and helpful. Had trouble last time with their WIFI but none this trip.

We are seasoned travelers and did not expect much. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff is exceptionally friendly and accomodating. A late check-out request was "no problem". The location is great--walking distance to everything. The rooms were clean. It served our purpose of a place to sleep while we looked at the school perfectly.

Keep your expectations reasonable and you should be very pleased.
