I have great respect for local businesses who arrive on the Gainesville scene with something different. Unfortunately for Sarkara Sweets, that something is a bland cupcake which also happens to cost $4. This is now my 7th or 8th cupcake, and it's all the same. Let's break it down:
1) I have been to numerous cupcake shops around the country, and for $4 you get something far larger and far tastier. I get it, they are located in one of the most prime buildings in Gainesville. They need to squeeze every penny out their product to pay for what I assume is very high rent... but at that price point I aspect something a step above supermarket eats.
2) Which brings me to my next point. The cupcake. I really don't know too well what goes into crafting the perfect cupcake. I do know that it should be too hard considering they all have the basic ingredients. Sakara hits you in the face with an overly sweet icing that has a strange, pasty consistency. I can overlook this. Until I bite further and hit the soggy, liquid, center. Wait. Soggy? Yes. The first couple times I assumed I was unlucky and got an under-cooked one.
Mistakes happen. Nope. This is their thing, their style. From reading other reviews here, I take it some people may like that. If that's what you are into, I won't judge you for it.
Maybe I am being too harsh here. In reality, I want to love this place but they make it darn near impossible for me to do so.
