“Really cool!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

Small trails but very nice! The sink hole is very very deep and you can go down to the bottom on the stairs. Very beautiful scene with lots of beautiful trees and plants.
Good for walking and jogging and it's pet friendly!

“Nice nature outing.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

This is a great outing for those who enjoy nature and its elements. You WILL get exercise, the only way down into the sinkhole is lots and lots of stairs- so people with physical handicaps, the elderly and very young may not get the whole experience. Other than the stairs, there is a lovely nature trail. Unfortunately housing and the like visible from the park remind you of development encroaching on nature. That being said, I still enjoy going to walk there from time to time. I no longer subject Gainesville visitors to this as they never seem to appreciate the beauty of it through the exercise, heat, mosquitos, etc. It is a Gainesville gem!

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

We started out our day with a picnic at the top of the sink hole there were plenty of picnic tables available. There is a fee of $4 per car but they have an honor box simply put the money in the envelope and drop it in the box below. We expected it to be quite hot because of it being a June day in Florida but it wasn't there was plenty of shade. Fun place to explore, this is a smaller state park but an awesome place to explore, there was tons of wildlife and waterfalls as you walk down the 236 steps to the bottom of the sink hole. Our kids loved to stop on the way to spot out birds and other nature life as we made our way down. We found the most interesting thing about this was there was no water at the bottom even though we saw quite a few waterfalls on our way down, according to a sign at the bottom the water goes in the ground through the phosphorus rock out to the Gulf of Mexico. Our whole family enjoyed the state park i would recommended this to everyone young and old.

“Respite from the heat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

Small but beautiful park with an easy walk down to a beautiful and geologically significant sinkhole. We saw hummingbirds and enjoyed the gentle waterfall after our picnic lunch.

“Nature at its best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013 via mobile

Amazing exhibit if a beautiful...sinkhole? Yep. It is absolutely fantastic how the earth fell in and a whole new world grew up! The sun peeks in through beautiful trees, a babbling brook flows into the sinkhole, and winding tree-covered paths walk around the perimeter. And best of all? The steps thy lead down to the bottom! So bring a water-bottle and comfortable shoes! Tables at the entrance for a picnic. It is a state park so not expensive. There are clean bathrooms and an exhibit area at the top, too. A wonderful way to pass 2-3 hours!
