“Unusual attraction”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Seemingly unique to Florida, sinkholes are strange to people coming from Europe. At first glance this one seemed less than interesting, but as the descent to the foot of the steps progressed more and more interesting geological features became evident. No wildlife at this time though, maybe due to the would-be Olympians charging about!

“A hole in the ground”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Not for handicapped folks or anyone with trouble climbing stairs---it's a long ways down....and then back up. But worth the trip if you are in Gainesville and haven't seen a sink hole up close and personal. Truly amazing hole in the ground. The kids really liked it, as FL is so flat. We saw a deer!

“sweaty smart fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

I love this location for a good work-out. With a 1/2 mile jogging trail and hundreds of stairs, you'll be sweating in no time. Plus, I don't feel guilty when I take a break to breath in the nature and listen to the water running down into the sinkhole.

“Don't try to go on Monday or Tues.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Felt like Chevy Chase in Vacation movie. Came from Oregon to Orlando, drove to Gainesville. Got to the gate and learned that this historical site is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

“Great Excersice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

very lovey place to visit. 120 ft deep sink hole with a lot of step. Going down is easy but remember you have to climb backup all those steps.
