Convenient location to highway and UF campus. Enjoyed our stay. We were there as part of a 3-day conference. They had some trouble servicing the happy hour and breakfast for a large crowd. We would return if we needed to be in the area in the future.

It's really too bad Gainesville doesn't have any decent hotels or motels; we come here a lot and it's always a challenge to find someplace that doesn't feel dirty and smell bad. The Lodge is one of those. And yet, every place we ever stay is busy, full even and not cheap ($159 a night for this motel, and it's the dead season!). While the lobby has a nice feel and the pool is pleasant enough, the rooms and bathrooms feel dirty and don't smell clean. The coffee at 'breakfast' is the same as the in-bathroom set up (artificial creamers? really? there's a KITCHEN back there!). Employees are nice enough, do the job, but it seems no one told them this is the hospitality business. We might as well be at the Walmart down the street (where people might be a little friendlier). Next time we'll try someplace else and I'm sure, be disappointed with that, too. But skip the Lodge, unless you like indifferent service, smelly hallways and rooms that need a good cleaning.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2014

July 27-28 2014. My wife and I had the pleasure recently to stay at The Lodge At Gainesville. From the friendly staff at the front desk, to the house keepers, bartenders, and breakfast buffet attendants, all were gracious and professional. The lobby was beautiful but unpretentious with a comfortable and relaxing feel to it. We stayed in a Executive King room that had a comfy bed and pillows, mini-fridge, nice bathroom, and a balcony with tables and chairs overlooking the courtyard, all very clean and tidy. The pool area was well maintained and very relaxing after a long days drive.
Lets not forget the two hour reception for those who wish to have a cocktail or two, in very comfortable surroundings, before going to dinner. The breakfast buffet was delish and welcomed. I only wished we could have stayed longer, but be assured we'll be back. Thanks Lester and Cynthia Piper

Room Tip: Exective Kings in my opinion are the most comfortable with more amenities Mini fridges and balconys.

My wife and I have stayed here twice already and have enjoyed it. The complimentary drinks were great and found the breakfast among the better ones. Will be staying again in August hopefully. I was quite impressed by the location and also the presentation at the dining room was gorgeous.
