We stayed for one night to tour the college. There were no surprises good or bad. The hotel was exactly what I expected it to be - easy, convenient and within walking distance of a few restaurants downtown. You can park either on the street for free or in the parking garage next door (you get a reduced rate). You need a car to see the school because it is not within walking distance of the campus. It is in downtown Gainesville. There is a Hilton that is more convenient to the campus and I would probably choose to stay at the Hilton next time just to be a little closer.

The hotel's location is in the heart of old downtown within a short stroll of many restaurants and bars. Although in downtown the traffic is very light so there is no noise problems and the parking is located next door to the hotel, which is very convenient.

Our room was clean and smelled fresh. The staff are very accommodating and friendly.

The hotel had a drinks and nibbles reception on the evening we were there which is a nice touch.

Gainesville downtown area came as a pleasant surprise, and we had a fabulous meal at Mark's Prime Steakhouse - on 2nd Ave, about 50 yards from the hotel.

We would stay here again if we were in the area

The hotel's location means you can park the car and walk! We opted to park on the street which is free from 6:00 pm until 8:00 am. We arrived late in the day, and wished we'd had time to visit the farmer's market in the park across the street but it was closing up. The hotel is very nice and the staff was welcoming. We were provided a map of the area indicating restaurants that extend a 10-15% discount when you show your room card! The room was clean and comfortable, bath toiletries are provided and wi-fi service is free. It was very chilly in Gainesville and the heat worked well! The breakfast was fine - standard fare. The evening reception was a nice touch - beer and wine served from 5 pm to 7 pm.

The room and hotel was nice and clean and everything is well maintained. When we arrived, we noticed a quaint little outdoor park with what appeared to be an amphitheater. We wondered what kind of fun things the locals do there. After dark, it didn't look so fun. The parking garage is about 100 yards from the hotel, and we were a little nervous on that walk. To be fair, we didn't feel threatened. Just nervous.
