“Mixed use property”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

This is a large property that contains several buildings, including facilities for vacationers, long-term/extended stay, and apartments. It is owned/managed by Southern Ventures. Please be sure to read my comments at the end of this review regarding the resolution of problems we encountered during our stay in September, 2013.
We had booked a Concierge Suite at the hotel for a month-long stay while house-hunting in the area. We ended our stay after a few nights because of a long list of issues. Here are some of the issues: (1) although building entry was supposed to be by key card, the main entry door was broken and could be opened without it. (2) Lighting in the parking area was minimal because much of it did not work or was very dim. (3) Cleanliness was a huge problem, including dirty upholstery on the sofa and chair, stained linens on the bed, dirty carpets that left my house shoes filthy, black dust on top of the hair dryer holder which was coming out of the AC vent, stains and rips in the carpet in the elevator and hallway, and very dusty lamp shades. Other issues include: only faux wood blinds (no black out curtains for day-sleepers), poor television clarity, very lumpy mattress, no desk, only once-a-week housekeeping service, dirty dishes in the kitchen cabinet, and very dirty areas on the stacked washer/dryer and water heater. Also note that one sprinkler head was in a pantry. Breakfast was in another building across a road that was only partially paved. When we gave noticed that we intended to check out early, our rate went from about $75/day to about $140/day, which was not explained during the reservation process. NOW, THE RESOLUTION: I took lots of photos inside and outside the suite. When I showed them to the manager at checkout, our room rate was adjusted accordingly. Because of this adjustment, I almost decided not to write this review. However, after a couple of weeks deliberation, I wanted other business travelers to know the condition of this hotel before making a decision that might affect their family and budget. Please see the photos.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not have windows on Racetrack Rd. or by the cement company.

Dear Valued Guest,

Your pictures were shared at the time of check-out with our new ownership and management staff. I appreciate the time you took to make us aware of our property's issues. As it turns out, the property is about to receive a multi-million dollar renovation with our long term corporate lodging resident in mind. Once we are complete, there will probably be a waiting list to accommodate the demand as we will offer furnished and unfurnished short term and long term non transient lodging. The daily and weekly transient hotel guest will not be able to reserve a hotel room due to this renovation and change in the property's direction. The renovations will begin in the fall. Hotel Guests that have current reservations may even see limited availability as we close down certain buildings for renovations. The renovations, however, will not affect current guests. Additionally, the road that was under construction by the county is now paved and we will be having a total colorful landscape and parking lot make over as well. Our property will once again be the property of choice for short and long term residents.

Your pictures however, only reflected the negative and we have many positive amenities we offer, 3 pools that are kept in immaculate condition with weekly landscaping completed, a renovated tennis court, fitness center and business center.

Thank you again for your detailed photos and description and feedback, at least I know our staff did their best to resolve your issues in the end, meaning we have great staff willing to accommodate any guest's situation!

We stayed three nights this past weekend. When we arrived, the woman behind the counter wasn't very friendly, and they charged me $50.00, in case something was broken, but later put it back in my acct. There was nothing about that money when I booked the room, and we were short for our trip. The website made this place look great, but it wasn't. We had to stay on the other side of the road, which was being worked on. When you walked into the building the trash was overflowing and the carpets were disgusting. The trash nor carpets were cleaned the entire time we were there. The room was okay, but you had to walk through filth to get to it. This place falls under the false advertisement category, and I won't be returning.

We booked this place one week before our stay. They were very friendly and informative when taking our reservation. We arrived 3 hours earlier than check in. The front desk allowed us to check in early. The housekeepers were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was free and hot. I just wish they had a waffle maker and a larger fruit selection. Rooms were clean and spacious. I would stay again in the future. Overall it was a good stay.

Toni,

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments about your stay with us! I just wanted to let you know we heard your suggestions on adding additional fresh fruit into our breakfast offerings and will be doing just that starting next week! Fresh cut fruit will be an additional item on our breakfast bar!

Thank you again for staying with us,
