“Paradise @ the Ramada”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2009

We traveled to the Ramada Plaza Beach Resort in March 7-10, 2009 for Spring Break with our 11 yr. old son. We loved the hotel & the location, we stayed in the main tower in a beach front room. The beach was beautiful & very clean with the beach bar right there it made getting a drink fast & easy.....the Pina Colada was delicious. The grounds are plush, with two swimming pools, one heated & the other was a beautiful waterfall pool with swim up bar, although it was early in the season the waterfall pool was to cold to go swimming in & the swim up bar was closed until the weather heated up. They have a BBQ hut & store right in the middle of the pools which was fantastic. Room service was good & the breakfast buffet was average. There is plenty to do in Ft. Walton Beach & also Destin is only 6 miles away, I recommend going to Fudpucker's & feeding the gators @ gator beach...so much fun! This was a great vacation & we have already booked two rooms in June to take the whole family.......we can't wait to go back!!!

This place was fantastic. I would recommend it to people of all ages, families & singles. We were there for a wedding that took place elsewhere, but they certainly could have handled it here. The grounds are beautiful, staff was courteous, rooms clean & nice with plenty of security, but not enough to hinder your good time. The resort truly does offer everything you need in one place. Kids will have a ball with the planned activities & families can enjoy the floating Fri. nite movies. The location makes it an easy choice for singles or families with teens. Local clubs & restaurants as well as the Pier are in walking distance. If you can't already tell. I think we will be back!!

A gulf view room in the tower is a must! Trip Advisor reviews were 100% accurate. The location is perfect. You can walk the beach to the pier and boardwalk for dinner and shopping. The Ramada in Fort Walton Beach is the best place for a family vacation. The Gulfarium is also close by and Destin and Sandestin are minutes away. We have a six year old and he loved the grotto pool! The hotel offers children's activities but he wanted to stay with us. The kiddie splash area is perfect for small children. Keep in mind, the property is old and has been added on to and renovated several times. The grounds are well kept. Our room was neat and clean in the tower. Remember to tip housekeeping and you will not have any problems. The restaurant at the hotel is OK if you want to stay in, and the BBQ place is good but a little pricey - almost $8.00 for a hamburger, fries not included! The boardwalk has much better food. Also, we had a fridge and microwave and bought snacks and drinks from the nearby grocery store. We are not condo. people - we want fresh towels, beds made, and have no need for a living and kitchen area so this was the perfect place for the price! Umbrellas and chairs on the beach were 30. a day, so we took the advice of another and bought our own chairs and umbrellas and saved a little money. When we left, we gave them to other vacationers. The postives about the Ramada are the location, amenities, and family atmosphere. Negatives are age of the hotel (if you are not in the tower), the bathroom is small and the sink is right next to the toilet. I am kind of a clean freak. I like my vanity and sink area separate from the toilet area- Yuck! So I bought Lysol. Also, if you are a nonsmoker, people smoke everywhere around the hotel. The hotel advertises itself as a nonsmoking property - not true. Luckily, our room did not smell of smoke. We had an amazing time and were thrilled not to have to drive long distances. Almost everything is within walking distance. There is even a surf shop within the resort. I would say the hotel is about 3 out of 5 stars. Read all Trip Advisor reviews and you will be pleased!

Stayed over the July 4th weekend...Family vacation..the kids activities were good, it was great to have time with just the wife and not worry about the kids having fun or being safe. We were very disappointed in the rooms. This is an older property and the rooms were VERY small. The room was basically clean but not the best I've seen. The staff was okay and the parking wasn't bad. So, why 'never again'? We booked at a little over $220 per night. The pool area was not bad and the beach was okay. Did it live up to the expectations of a great family vacation? Absolutely not. The rooms were so disappointing..along the lines of a cheap interstate hotel that is really too small for a one night stay, much less multiple nights with a family. We'll visit Florida again but follow the lead of friends and family and go the condo route. The price was equivalent, the pools nice, the beach right there and the accomodations roomier.

We stayed there from 7/3 - 7/6 and this resort is wonderful. My wife and I took our three kids and they had a blast. Everything is so convenient (food, entertainment etc.) and the pools are beyond excellent. There was always something to do at the Ramada for the kids and the adults can also have fun in the process. From games, live free entertainment, fire work show on the fourth and cake and punch with a parade of kids complements of the Resort. They even had a big screen movie projecting on a blow up screen by the pool one night. Security was the best I have ever seen at a resort and everybody got along and really had a good time together. I am already booking for another trip there and I will be bring other friends and family to enjoy the beautiful Ramada Inn Resort.

Thanks Ramada!
