“four point sheraton was awsome again!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2012

We drove from st louis on dec 30 to arrive on dec 31 2011 (13 hrs) JUST to stay at the four point sheraton and visit new years eve to celebrate in destin florida. We returned home (13 more hours) to st louis the next day sunday Jan 1st.2012... Does that tell you how much we like this hotel destinaion? We love it !! This is our 4th time to this location. We have stayed in courtyard rooms one time only. It was a nice room but the beachfront is amazing so do not stay in any other rooms.... We got to see beautiful white sand beaches, amazing sunrises and sunsets, wild dolphins playing in the surf... right from our balcony even in december!! The staff is very accomidating every time we stay here. I by hope now gary (g.m.) and i are good friends ! His staff is a true testimony on the management team. The front desk team was awsome on check in and making the reservations... thank you Edie, amanda, and ashley for all you helped with!!! Just being honest but the rooms in the past were a little dated and to be called a suite was because of size ...Bu now The rooms and courtyard have recently been renovated. Great job again staff !! The rooms were awsome ...they were not glamourous and intimidating like a high priced hotel in fact they were very modern styled, very accomidating and roomy, and easy to relax in not feel scared to use the room to be comfy! The view and sounds of the ocean at night are priceless!! Very recommended any time of the year!! I couldnt of had a better experience !!

I picked this hotel for location (not the beach, but convenience). Pretty dingy. The bed was lumpy, the carpet old. The bathroom had the kind of shower that floods the floor (the curtain funnels the water over the short lip) and nowhere to put your toiletries besides a two inch wide shelf.

To be fair I was not there for the beach and I didn't check out the pools, etc. but even if you are looking for a beach spot, I would try for something nicer.

My husband & I stayed one night in an oceanview rm on the top (6th) floor. The view was beautiful. The room was very nice (including a larger than average refrig and microwave), the furniture, drapes, etc. all appeared to be new exept the chairs on the balcony that were really worn. Since it was so cold, we didn't have a chance to sit on the balcony anyway. We had drinks during happy hour (kind of expensive for happy hour--$5 for house wines) & there were hors d-oeuvres that were so-so but free. The bar waitress was very friendly and made great recommendations for dinner. All in all, it was great.

Room Tip: It's worth paying a little extra to stay ocean front. It's weird but they have no rooms wit...

The nice things about the Sheraton include it being right on the Gulf (so if you're going to stay here pay more for the Gulf view room) & it's right next door to the Gulfarium (a great place to take the kids). There are plenty of restaurants nearby & other shopping plus good parking. Internet access was easy. We had a Gulf view room on the 1st floor but a masonry wall on the balcony partially obstructed our view. So stay several floors up. The birds also loved our balcony & in fact 2 came into our room when we attempted to go out for a few minutes to look at the beach. Breakfast & dinner are both served but no lunch. We were told breakfast would cost $9. Because we could not keep our balcony door open (no screen & no way to secure door with just a slight opening) we had to sleep with the door closed even though it would have been great to hear the sound of the waves. Ate at the Black Pearl - (wonderful Sunset Specials) & had 2 meals at the nearby Waffle House - both places were good & reasonable.
Although our room had been renovated, most of the hotel was still in the process of being upgraded. Exterior walls & walks all needed painting & we had an incident of brown water from the bathroom sink one evening. Staff were very courteous & friendly.

Room Tip: Request a Gulf view room above the 1st floor.

Although it's an older hotel, the beachfront rooms have been remodeled and are very nice...and the restaurant/bars/breakfast area/lobby is all nice. The breakfast buffet is great..But the best thing about the place are the staff...ALL were amazing..We had a few issues (ok I'm picky) but everyone was very understanding and accommodating. They bent over backwards to make everything just right for us. (Cable tv was out of their control!!)
Yes, I'd go back in a flash...

Room Tip: Beachfront for sure
