“3 1./2 month winter stay at the Palms”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2009

Have Stayed here the last 3 winters for 3 1/2 months at a time, and WON'T return next year.
The propery has a good location, and is a nice size. I am sure there are nice units here to rent, as we note many owners doing upgrades, but check them out carefully.
The unit we have been renting this year (504) is in desperate need of up-grading-thread bare couch, broken wicker chairs etc. We have told Brooks and Shorey numerous times, but all we got were shrugs and mumbles about how hard it is to get owners to do anything.
The pool is on the northwest side of the building, and is very tiny.
Prepare yourself for the severely sloped parking lot unless you have one of the assigned parking spots under the building.
I'm sure it would be fine for a short summer stay, as the balconies are large and beach can't be beat.

Our stay at The Palms was GREAT!! We Stayed the May 13-18, 2008 and booked our trip through Emeraldcoastrentals.com, the rental company is Brooks and Shorey. Our condo was amazing, very nice w/ beach front views. (All the condos here have beach front views) They offer quite a few great deals such as dolphin excursions, beach set up, golf, and free meal at Capt. Kidds. The price was very affordable and you get alot for your $. The staff is fantastic, they remember you by name!! The beach was not very crowded and the same fantastic beach you get in Destin w/ less people. Several great restuarants w/in 5 minutes. The only downside is the pool is VERY small, and does not get a lot of sun. It does have outdoor showers and bathrooms though. I would highly recommend if you are seeking a lot for your $$$$. We will definatley stay again in the same unit time and time again!!!

  • Liked — Great value and beautiful condo!!!
  • Disliked — Very small pool w/ very little sun.

We stayed in June 07 and had a blast. This is a 6 story condo so we did not have to fight the crowds at the beach or the pool. These are 2 br and 2 baths. They have outside showers and bathrooms. The Elevator is also a plus. If you have small kids, try out the National Seashore. It's located on hwy 98 on the left (right outside of ft walton)towards Destin. It is public beach on the bayside. The water is less than knee deep for at least 200yds out. Don't have to worry about the kids getting knocked down by the waves. Ft Walton is not as crowded as Destin and it's cheaper to stay there. Destin is just a 5 minute ride across the way. We booked our stay with Brooks and Shorey. They were the cheapest and they provide beachchairs.

  • Liked — 6 story condo, less crowded.
  • Disliked — Small pool
