Family summer holiday to the Florida pan handle, driving 13 hours turning into 16 hours with our child from Fort Worth, TX. The drive was pleasant noting entering Louisiana from Texas by the bumpier rode all the way through Mississippi. Loved passing through Mobile Alabama's Bankhead tunnel, though the single lane causing traffic at the funnel, but day lighting and seeing the change of scenery from downtown Mobile to an ocean view and bridgeway drive was worth the added trip time. Finally worked our way to highway 97, traversing parallel the gulf. Got to our destination, and contrary to condo lessor instructions, no guard was in the entrance guardhouse so we searched for our building on our own. Both good and bad since we were already burdened with a 16 hour teip time. Found our unit noticing a clean beach front, but either side had lots of seaweed washed ashore. Typical during the summer months I hear. Unit was clean but average, but had to report to lessor the clogged toilet sink and non functioning toilet lock. Kitchen was well appointed with plenty flat and silverware. Had everything we needed with the trash chute just outside our 5th floor unit and a wash and dry room available on each floor by the elevator. Loved the location, being about 2 miles from Okaloosa pier where ine can fish or watch dolphins for a small entrance fee. Tom Thumb here is a convenience store and gas station unlike the full blown grocery the name stands for back home. Plenty of food establishments with variety along Hway 98. Like all over the Southern States, plenty of churches along the main hiway. Good enough value for money I would say, paying under $1500 for 2 bedrooms with individual baths for 6 days over the weekend on a summer.
