“Picture perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

It is beautiful with the emerald green water and white sand beaches. We stayed at Hampton Inn which was close to the fishing pier. The pier was $2 to walk on but I enjoyed it so much I came back the next day. There were herons and pelicans hanging out waiting for the fisherman to throw them a catch. The view is great . I also enjoyed watching the surfers .

At end of pier was Anglers , great for cocktails and snack or dining with beachfront seating and picnic tables on pier or beach and playground

Also nearby was the boardwalk with a very nice bathroom , shops and restaurants, it's not really a boardwalk and it's small but a great spot for a break from the sun

Past the pier was the national seashore with the sand dunes and sea oats. It was picture perfect

We were visiting in December so it was very slow and some of the restaurants and stores were closed or had cut back but on plus side you pretty much he'd the beach to yourself

“Stayed here for 8 months love it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

If you like beautiful scenic views this beach is for you. White sand squeaks when you walk. Green emerald waters dolphins in the morning. Every once in a while the dragon Speer 130 flys over head.

“Beautiful White Sand Beaches with Lots To Do!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

My favorite beaches! Okaloosa Island has a lot to offer. The Pier is the perfect place to fish and see the marine life below. The Boardwalk offers shops, pavilions, restaurants, sports bars, beach volleyball, playground, and a large beach area with a lifeguard. The water is warm and shallow for some distance, making it perfect for swimming and wading. On the other side of the pier is the Gulfarium. It's all within walking distance to several hotels and condos. Dolphins can be seen swimming up and down the shoreline and sunrises and sunsets are just breath-taking. It's my favorite place to vacation!

“Perfect Vacation Spot!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

We LOVE Fort Walton Beach/Okaloosa Island....No crowds like neighboring destinations, due to no tall high rises. We love staying at the El Matador, at the very end of Santa Rosa, & nothing but undeveloped beach from there....Often we are the only ones on the beach :-)
