We just got back from staying in condo 402 Osprey (week of 8/9/08). I booked it through findvacationrentals.com number 10237. The owner is Dee Dee Zachos. We had a wonderful time. First, I must say that the pictures do not do this condo justice. It is beautiful. It is very spacious with tile flooring and stainless steel appliances. It is located in the Osprey building that has it’s own pool in addition to the fabulous lazy river. The master bedroom and bath were huge with a great view of the bay. The other bedrooms are small – but who stays in there anyway!
Although, someone before mentioned staff issues – we had no problems. The staff was very helpful. You do need to keep your pool tags with you though. We had to go back and get them once. There is a rule about drinks being 4 feet from the pool, but we saw several people with drinks in the lazy river, so it must not have been enforced.
The best part by far is the balcony. We ate every meal on this balcony overlooking the bay. The bay is another enjoyment. My son is 10 and spent every hour possible in the bay. He caught multiple crabs and hermit crabs and 1 small stingray. The best part was simply floating in the bay on my $3.00 float. FYI – although the ocean is beautiful, the jellyfish were crazy. My son caught 22 jellyfish on 1 day alone.
Other things to mention:
• There are several charcoal grills – nice for grilling
• Plenty of floats for the lazy river
• The walk to the beach is a bit much so we drove. Once we parked in the parking deck across the street – then the walk was minimal. Also, there is a nice pool on the beach side. In addition, the Ramanda (which we were told we could use), has a great kid water mini-park. Another time, we drove to the beach access just up the road.
• Best beach spot was on Holiday Isle. Go into Destin (across bridge) and look for Gulf drive. Follow to the end. There is a public access at the end that leads to the beach – water was beautiful. Jelly’s were present though – huge jellyfish. Still very nice!
• We are not party animals so very much enjoyed the fact that quiet time was from 10:00PM-8:00AM. Not sure this was an issue for anyone. We stayed in Myrtle Beach 2 weeks before and wished this had been in effect.
• If we decide to drive the 12 hours again – will definitely stay here!
