We rented unit 106, Gulfside, from Paul Peterson, whom I found through VRBO last year. It was a different unit this year, 2 bedrooms, but still ground floor. As wiith the one before, it was very clean and stocked with everything we could possibly need. Having a ground floor on the Gulfside was perfect for my family. We didn't need to race for pool chairs as our terrace was right there and getting the kids to the beach was easy. They loved going at night with flashlights, nets and buckets to catch sandcrabs (we released them after catching them.) Paul is very easy to work with, lives locally so he's available if you need something, and he keeps his properties at a high standard.

Overall- A very nice place for a family to enjoy all the amenities....lazy river, spa's, pools. I enjoyed it more than the rest of my review states.

Condo was great. We rented through VROM.

We did stay on the Bayside, and the walk over was trying me by the end of the week. (Carrying chairs, umbrellas, coolers, kids toys) It wasnt a bad walk but just having to make a conscious effort to go to the beach bothered me.

Be ready to run to the pool area at 9:00am (when pools open) or else you will have to wait for a chair and or table. Everyone follows suit and runs down when the gates open and putts 4,5,8 towels out and occupies the chairs until.......

Also, there are pool hours for all...pools, spas, lazy river: 9:00am-10:00pm.

And lastly...there is now a rule (Florida Statute) where there can not be drinks within 4ft of the pool, spa, river. Give me a break........I thought this was vacation where I could sit in the spa or river and drink a cool beverage. (Yes, there is a Cabana Boy and/or Robocop the security guard checking and hassling you)

Lastly, dont waste your time arguing with the Coastal Beach Service chair boys about whether or not you can put your umbrella up in front of their chairs that are 35yds away from the waterline. Do It! Its a public beach. They will try and tell you, you're not allowed have an umbrella up in front of their chairs. Its funny how the one day I paid $25 for use of one set of chairs they didnt mind what I had in front of their chairs, but the day I didnt they were right there harassing me about my umbrella. (Yes, I do have the respect not to set up right in front of people, but their chairs were 35yds away from the water.)

Lastly, I will probably go back to Destin next year.

We just returned from our stay. We have stayed before and had a great experience. This time was different. We paid a huge fortune for a real dump. We were originally given a different condo, but that one became unavailable and was sent photos of the one we went with. When we arrived the condo was filthy. The furniture had knobs missing, the couch and couch bed was broken. There was half eaten food and drink in the cupboards. There was cigarette ashes and butts on balcony. After calling the managment services (not affilitiated with Destin West) they said they would send someone else to reclean. The couch cushions and comforters were taken to be dry cleaned due to the filthy condition. Arrangements were made to have other things delivered such as pillow protectors, sheets, new foam for the couch etc but none came. We moved all our belongings like we were told for a deep clean to be done, and they never showed up. Throughout the week appointments were made for workers to come, however we declined due to our children dancing and we couldnt keep a vigil in the condo while we were attending this function as well as trying to enjoy our vacation. Many of our friends had a good experience, however we were promised many things that never came true. The facility was nice as a whole, however beware of who you rent from.....

We stayed the week of the 22nd on the bay side. The view of the bay and the gulf was excellent. They were very friendly the lazy river side was hard to get a seat because of people leaving their towels on the chairs and going back up to their rooms but the staff did a good job removing the towels after a while. The beach had the most beautiful sand. The kids loved the kids play area at the Remada. The only complaint was all the jelly fish, it seemed everyons kid was getting stun. Somebody said they come up close when it is a full moon. We saw dolphins almost every day about 200 yards out and a few sharks off the fishing pier. We will stay again it is without a doubt the best place I have stayed.
