“Don't waste your time or money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2011

This place seems like a training ground for Hibachi chefs. When they start getting it right, I'll expect they'll move on to the real deal. However, the prices are what you'd expect to pay for a professional show/meal. 4 star prices for 2 star quality.

“Great Food, but THE WORST SERVICE EVER!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2011

i have been to Yamato many times over the past year. The Hybachi is Great food and very nice chefs! However, the service at this place is terrible!!!!! They had two waitresses for the whole resturaunt! One of which spoke absolutely no English! We sat down for dinner at 7:45 P.M.........We seen our waitress at 8:17P.M. .............Got our drinks at 8:34 P.M...........Started to eat at 9:01 P.M. So, that should tell you about the service! It has been this way the last two times I've been here. Also the server did not turn on the fan for the hoods at waiting tables and the entire resturaunt was filled with smoke from the other grills. It was so bad a couple with a young child left because the child was coughing so bad. I myself had to get up and walk outside at one point because of the smoke! The bottom line is..........This place has great food, but the service will keep me away form now on.

“Delicious sushi - poor service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2011

I've eaten at Yamato's for years now but have only had the sushi. The quality, variety, and freshness has always been very good -- it's the service that is lacking. To combat the slow service just go early (between 5pm and 5:45pm) and sit at the sushi bar. For an even better value check out Restaurants.com where you can purchase a $25 gift certificate to Yamato's for $10. During "specials" you can buy the $25 gift certificate for as little as $2. No expiration date either. You just need to spend over $50 on food to use the $25 gift certificate -- that's about 5 specialty sushi rolls and seaweed salads split between 2 people.

“The only place I go for Sushi and Hibachi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2011

I absolutely love Yamato's. I am originally from Fort Walton Beach and currently reside in Hawaii, so I can get sushi everywhere here, but Yamato's is still my favorite! Can't wait to go back home to get a roll or ten. The HIbachi is awesome too. Best price in town and it's always fun and entertaining.
