“Check your room carefully..we were 3rd time lucky..........”

Quality Inn Bayside

We were looking forward to our stay here as it was our first time in the FWB area. I knew when booking that the location was not beachfront but on the bay. The hotel website made it look quite nice.

Check-in was a little slow and could have been a bit friendlier but after a long (rewarding) drive around the coast was glad to get in the room which was rear facing overlooking the pool. Here's when our problems started. A good look around the room revealed that the safe did not have a key - back to the desk where they searched in vain for the key with no success. The suggestion? They will swop the safe the next day (?) or we can move the next day. No good! We insisted to move straight away..

Room #2 - just along corridor - safe ok this time but....no safety latch on the door and half-alive, half-squashed roach on floor just outside bathroom.....not acceptable.

Room #3 - this time my wife insisted they act appropriately and they upgraded us to bay view room. This room was all ok. View very nice. However, we had now lost faith in the hotel and decided to check out early (stayed 3 nights instead of planned 5)

The hotel could be ok but is lacking in basic maintenance. One gate to the pool was broken. Instead of being fixed, it just had permanent sign on it saying "use other entrance".

The included breakfast was dire, probably one of the worst we have come across. After first day didn't bother again.

Location is ok, on bay, in old part of FWB. Next door to Red Lobster, not far from Olive Garden, Pizza Hut and Publix supermarket.

Not sure about hotel security. Although rooms had interior corridors, it seemed that the outdoor entrances to the blocks were always open, you didn't need your room key to access....didn't seem that secure.

Would not stay here again!

I gave the hotel an excellent grade because I felt things weighed out to an excellent experience. It was very clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was probably the largest hotel room I have ever stayed in. It overlooked the bay. We sailed over from Pensacola and spent two nights. Although we didn't need it, there is a safe and keys in the room. There is a nice breakfast served with a friendly staff. There is a computer in the common area for guest use. On the negative side the carpet needs to be replaced and the plumbing seems to be old but still operates properly. I believe they are renovating. We stayed in the property area behind the pool overlooking the bay. The pool area was nice but closed for out of season. There is a delicious Red Lobster right next door.
The bed was very comfortable. I didn't see any bugs as the last reviewer noted. I am from FL and they can some times sneak in.
I don't think it is a problem overall.
Pheonix was very nice and helpful from the desk as was the daytime manager. (didn't get his name)
I would be happy to stay there again and I am picky.

We were real excited to get this room for such a great price right near waterfront. Upon arrival, the room had a musty odor which eventually was ignored, however, we saw roaches in several places throughout the room, dead and alive. I am normally not a complainer but this hotel was not worth the great deal we thought we got. Beds were uncomfortable, so be ready for a sore neck and back too.

I booked an "Executive Suite" through the hotel website for a rate of $150 on a Saturday night, which I thought was a good deal in a popular beach town. Very big, comfortable room, but nothing too "executive" about it. Dated furnishings, not enough lighting, small bathroom, but clean and comfortable. Loved the location on the bay and enjoyed sitting on the pier and watching the boat traffic. Very friendly and helpful staff and excellent free breakfast. A solid value, just don't expect luxury and you won't be dissappointed.

I absolutely loved this place! I went for spring break and the first day there i totaled my car. The people at the front desk were very helpful! I loved PRESTON! If you go ask for him- he is totally the coolest guy there! Needless to say the service was great they called cabs for us and gave us extra blankets and towels and pillows and recommended very tasty resturants. they are located on the bay which was nice to walk out and sit in the dock in the mornings. My room was very clean and everyone there was very friendly!
