“My thoughts on DiamondHead, Ft.Myers Beach,FL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

My wife and myself stayed at Diamondhead 2-8 to 2-14-2014.
This is our 4th visit to the Hotel. We enjoy the closeness to all the "Action".
Just a couple of my thoughts:
Very Nice Hotel, Clean, no spring breakers. very peaceful.
Get's kinda spendy, but I guess what you pay for, my per night (+ tax) ran 389 to 420/night!
I ordred a pizza one night for $12.99 from room service, they add $2.00 delivery chg and 20% tip on the bill. too bad, cause I would have given the person delivering the pizza $5.00 tip. She lost out.. I DO NOT APPRECIATE ADDING THE 20% TIP ON THE BILL!!!.
Another thing is the silly "bed tax" the city puts on the tab. Local paper says they take in $4,300,00.00 yr. on that tax alone!! AT LEAST THEY COULD IMPROVE THE SIDEWALKS ON THE DIAMONDHEAD SIDE OF THE STREET, We ahd to go out into the traffic lane in order to go around a mud puddle after a rain.
I will go back, but I think I'll have to cut down on the amount of days, because of the charges, i.e. $50.00 lawn chair chg to sit on the beach. adding tips to the bill (delivery charge for room service)? BTW-Daniel is a nice person :)

Room Tip: Be sure to take enough $ with you :)

Dear Fun2Flyfast725ds,
Thank you very much for staying with us at DiamondHead Beach Resort. I'm happy to hear you had another great experience with us, your happiness really is our number one priority. Thank you for giving me your concerns, all guest feedback is very important. The City of Fort Myers Beach is planning on doing a major sidewalk improvement in the next year or two, hopefully that situation will be better for you on your next visit. I believe the price for the beach chairs is $20 for the entire day, that service is run by a third party company and unfortunately we don't have control over their pricing. Thank you again and we are already looking forward to seeing you again.

Sincerely,
Neil Hopgood - General Manager

The food was terrific - we had sandwiches and drinks outside watching the beautiful sunset. Vicki was our server - she was excellent so if you go - see if she is around. What an excellent day. If you have a meal at this location, i suggest stayig to watch the sunset as well.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in February 2014, in a gulf view room, complete with kitchenette, living room and a huge outdoor deck. The view from our 7th floor room was amazing as we had a corner room so could see the entire beach as well as the causeway and town. The kitchenette was well equipped and the room appeared to have been recently updated, as everything was spotless. Although close to $400 a night once taxes and the resort fee are added, we would recommend this room if you do tend to eat in, rather then go to a lot of restaurants, as it is beautiful to sit on the deck and enjoy a meal or a drink.

The pool and hot tub area were very nice. We were, however, a bit confused about the resort fee, as it only included parking, internet and in room tea and coffee, and was charged everyday, regardless if these items were used or not. For the hefty room price, we were a bit surprised the fee didn't include breakfast, watersports, or beach chairs. Normally, at least the tea and coffee, and often internet, are complementary these days.

We tried their pizza, which was excellent, as was the dinner we had at the beach bar. However, we ordered room service one night and it took over an hour to get to our room and we had to call them three times to check on our order. I did report this to the main desk, but no offer was made to adjust the bill, although they said they would report the poor service to the restaurant manager.

It must also be noted that, due to the location of this hotel on Fort Myers Beach, the traffic on and off this island is very bad for hours, in each direction, every day. We made a few day trips south and north of the beach and were stuck in traffic every time we returned to the hotel, often for more then an hour. This, obviously, is not a fault of the hotel, however, was one of the reasons we would not return to this area of Florida in the future.

Room Tip: Gulf view rooms are the best

Dear Petcottages,
Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us at DiamondHead Beach Resort. I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay as well as your large Gulf View balcony. The views are some of the best on the island. Yes, traffic can be busy this time of year on Fort Myers Beach. This is our busy season, I'm sorry to hear that it would prevent you from returning in the future. I would like to invite you back during our off season for a much more quiet experience, and a lot less traffic. Thank you again and we do hope to see you back in the future.

Sincerely,

We recently enjoyed a 5 day stay, getting a break from the winter cold of home. The property is great...perfect location for walking to restaurants and activities, but not too close to any rowdiness. We enjoyed the beach chairs and umbrellas (at a price) and the pool and hot tubs. The two restaurants on site are great, one very casual and one more upscale..both had good food. The suites are nice, especially love the private balconies that are big enough for lounging and dining. Next time we go we will request 5th floor or higher so we don't get the pool noise (not bad, just kids and adults having a good time.)

The suites have a nice kitchen area with a dishwasher! And loved getting the daily cleaning that often does not come with condo type spaces. The only negative was that the beach had lots of ocean trashiness on it...not really sure why? We have been to Fort Myers Beach several times and have never had that...

Room Tip: If you are wanting peace and quiet, go for the 5th floor and up. We loved the ocean side room, howe...

Dear Marcydeee,
Thank you very much for staying with us at DiamondHead Beach Resort. I'm excited to hear you had a great time and enjoyed our location as well as our 1 bedroom suite. Yes, we think our location is perfect as it puts you within walking distance to the Times Square area but far enough away for quiet relaxation. I'm also happy to hear you enjoyed your dining experiences at our Chloes and Cabana's Beach Bar. Cabana's just completed some improvement projects and we are happy to hear our guests are enjoying the changes. The beach debris you saw was just sea grass, every once in awhile heavy surf will bring it ashore. It's nothing to worry about and we do clean our beach daily as well. Thank you again and we do hope to see you back soon.

Sincerely,
Neil Hopgood - General Manager

This was our first vacation stay at Diamond Head as owners of one of the units and it was wonderful! Our balcony faced the pool but still had a beautiful view of the beach and the Naples. The staff was so friendly and we were made to feel a part of a big family. Early morning walks on the beach yielded some gorgeous shells and watching the sun come up out of the mist was breathtaking. Everything you could possibly need is right here or within easy walking distance. Our rental car sat in the parking lot the entire time we were here!

Room Tip: There is a view of the ocean no matter where your room is located. Those on the south escape the af...

Very nice hotel, nice room, lovely pool and hot tubs (2). Incredible view of the Gulf. On a clear day you can see Sanibel Island to the north and Naples to the south. We saw dolphins in the water from our balcony. A great screened in balcony, large with a nice table and 4 chairs and 2 loungers with a little table. Double doors so you could enter from the living area and the bedroom. You can lay in bed and see the Gulf, just beautiful. You can leave the doors open and hear the ocean and get a great breeze, no bugs, no birds. Very nice staff. Daniel waited on us by the pool and provided great service! Everyone provided great service. We ate at Chloe's and Cabanas. Good food, great staff. We did listen to the presentation for a possible timeshare, but they were not pushy. Very informative presentation and we seriously considered it. It sounds like a great deal, but it is not for us at this time. The reasons I didn't give it 5 stars:
1. We didn't have a freezer in the little refrigerator, not a major deal, but we would have liked it better if it was there for a frozen snack, meal or ice cream. They did offer to store some ice cream in the freezer in the restaurant :).
2. Our room (803) was upgraded recently and we didn't care for the pebble flooring in the shower and there is no bathtub. Not a deal breaker as we have no small children, but the pebble floor hurt our feet a little in the shower. It looks very nice though.
3. The other thing we didn't care for was the fact the pool and hot tub close at dusk. I understand they want to keep the noise down after dark, but in February it is dark by 6:30 pm. A little early for us to be unable to get in the pool or hot tub. We did mention this when we talked about the timeshare and were told we could probably go out there after dark and nobody would say anything. I think a better rule would be nobody under 25 years old in the pool or hot tub after dusk. This would probably be sufficient to keep out the noisier crowd.
The only negative thing about the island itself is the traffic, but we were told they are going to expand the road in the future and this should help. The hotel of course has no control over this and I didn't factor that in my rating, just good to know. We left off the south end to do most things as the traffic jam is better going that way. You cannot beat the weather, it was sunny and beautiful every day. We are from Ohio and it was awful there when we left. We would come back in a heart beat. We loved our time here.

Room Tip: I agree with other reviews that you probably don't want the lower floors due to noise. No bad v...

Dear Michele W,
Thank you very much for staying with us at DiamondHead Beach Resort. I'm pleased to hear you had a great time and enjoyed your room, balcony, and the Gulf view. There's nothing better than falling asleep with your balcony door open and the sound of the waves. Thank you for giving us your feedback on the freezers, tile showers, and pool hours. We take all feedback seriously and use it to improve our award winning services even more. Stay warm in Ohio, if you need another break from the cold we would love to see you again.

We have been coming to Diamondhead for years and always have a wonderful experience! The rooms are very clean, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the amenities are great! We love coming here because it is right on the beach and also has a very nice pool with a wonderful view of the gulf. Cabana's Beach Bar is a fun place to kick back for refreshments and relax and Chloe's Lounge is terrific for a more quiet setting. There is a nice restaurant (also named Chloe's) if you want a meal inside. In addition, the resort is within walking distance to many island bars, shops, and restaurants. All in all a perfect place for a relaxing vacation.....with friends or family including the kids!!!! We can't wait to return!!!!! :)
