We only spent one night at the beach during our trip and had a beautiful room at the Diamondhead. The suite was very nicely appointed and very comfortable. The beach bar was under construction but it should be finished soon. Beach access is easy and the hotel is close to the center of the Fort Myers Beach pier and downtown area. The screened porches are great but my husband did not enjoy ours as much because we had a corner location that allowed us to see into other rooms/porches. I think this was called a Gulf View.

stayed for 10 days and every day we had to call for missing towels, toliet paper and coffee, we were then told the coffee would cost more if we had more then 1 in our room. the coffee pot was for 3 cups and we had four people in the room, the front desk people were rude except for 2 of them. all they really want to do is sell condos they call your room repeatedly and we were on the 8th floor the view was nice but if you looked down you had a view of the garbage which stunk even on the 8th floor. would never go back AGAIN

We just spent four nights on the seventh floor of this hotel. The expansive view from the balcony is unparalleled, the suite is spacious, clean and bright, the beds comfortable, and the staff friendly. It's nice to have a kitchen with a fridge. If you only have a few days, this is the place to stay. You walk out of the hotel directly out onto the beach, into sand as soft as flour, rent a couple of beach chairs and an umbrella for the day, read and watch the volleyball players, walk back the few steps to the outdoor restaurant for lunch, and then sit back down and wait for a magnificent sunset. The hotel is situated in a perfect spot along the beach, close to restaurants and a grocery store. We also enjoyed having breakfast on the balcony overlooking the pool area.

We will definitely return, because this hotel made our vacation so easy, comfortable and relaxing. No negative surprises!

It's all about the beach...the gorgeous, endless beach full of walkers, runners, squealing children, grunting volleyballers, parasailors, and everything else you want a beach for.

The hotel itself provided us with a lovely two-room suite on the tenth floor overlooking the beach and the fantastic sunsets in the west. Pleasant and efficient staff (for the most part); dark, gloomy and scary hallways; a so-so restaurant that may see better days ahead; an outdoor tiki bar next to the nice pool; every beach chair, chaise, umbrella, boat, and other toy (all rented, nothing included in the room price). All in all, quite a pleasant place for mom, dad, and the kids.

But the traffic...yeah gods...the traffic from hell. Better traffic planning could have prevented the endless crawling cars and trucks crawling up and down the single-lane road at fifteen miles an hour. A real turnoff even with a fabulous beach.

But don't blame the hotel.
