“AS GOOD AS EVER”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

This was our second stay at the Diamondhead and was every bit as good as the first. Large, comfortable rooms with separate bedrooms, comfortable beds and views to die for. The staff continue to be friendly and helpful, especially Jay who gave us good advice on places to go and restaurants to eat at.

This was our first visit to DiamondHead Resort and it was wonderful! The room was very nice and clean and had updated furnishings and decor. Screened in balcony was also really nice. We stayed on the 7th floor and had a gulf view which overlooked the pool area. If you want to be looking straight out at the ocean you have to request a beach front room. The pool area and outside bar was also very nice and the staff very friendly. Beach area was also beautiful and a great place to people watch.

The only negative about this resort is their restaurant, Chloe's. The food was just average and the staff were not knowledgeable about food allergens at all. Otherwise I would have given DiamondHead 5 stars.

Really enjoyed our stay and and would definitely go back! Thanks DiamondHead for making our week a great one.

Room Tip: 7th Floor are the premium suites. Nice view of the gulf and just high enough to have some privacy f...

I should have known. Price was so reasonable. This is not luxury but a miracle of photoshop. Looked good, mighty fine on the Internet. In fact, in person, it is not bad. But, consider the traffic to get anywhere anytime on or off the island. Consider an uncomfortable mattress and pillow. Maybe it is just me, but o my aching back. Then, if you like lounging at the pool quietly, consider the public bingo games and loud sixties music. And, for your comfort, try looking for the nonexistent beach umbrellas. But, if you are into kareouk, this is the place for you. The restaurant on property... Well there are equally non tempting places all around. Tattoo parlors too. O yeah, great shopping.. Five tee shirts with inglorious slogans for some special bargain.

Room Tip: Another place would be a start, but we were told all rooms have an ocean view. This is true.

We had one night to stay before departing Ft.Myers Beach and were fortunate to stay at this facility. We have never stayed in a place that had such friendly, nice and accommodating personnel. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome in this beautiful resort. We were amazed when we arrived to our room to see such a beautiful view of the beach and later, the sunset. The lanai had access from both the living room and our bedroom. Our room was very clean and was very large and comfortable. The location of the resort is within walking distance to the popular pier attractions. This resort had everything that a traveler would need to make a stay memorable and it certainly was for us. We only stayed here one night but when we return to the area, we could see staying here longer. As a matter of fact, I asked about this when we checked out.

Room Tip: Our room was on the ninth floor on the north side of the hotel with an angled view of the beach and...

The suites are large and well-maintained for an older beach property. The balconies are huge and do have a big ocean view. Tragically, however, they have screened the balconies in with dark-ish screens - from top to bottom - that cannot be opened. This absolutely destroys the view. We noticed several hotels on Ft. Myers Beach have done the same - but not all, so be sure to ask when you are booking. Probably when these older hotels were required to comply with new safety regulations that required 4' railings, the some hotels locked down the balconies with the cheaper screens. Nicer places spent the money and replaced the railings.

The staff was very accomodating when we asked to be moved away from a vent just outside our balcony, that roared all day and all night.

Room Tip: It's a very active beach so try to choose a higher floor to reduce early morning noise including...

This hotel is older, but so well maintained it seems a lot newer. Our room was large and the only thing missing was a stove ( I imagine because of a possibility of fire) even though the hotel was equipped with sprinklers and a smoke detector. The biggest plus was the wonderful staff. A big "thumbs-up" to our chambermaids, the desk staff, the pleasant staff at the bellman's booth on the ground level, bar tender and dining room waiter. The beach is the attraction here and it was great. The traffic going into and out of the island can get heavy during rush hours, but people seem to cope well. While we were there the bar area floors were replaced and painting and a new roof were being done. That's probably why everything doesn't seem dated, constant updates !

Room Tip: if you face the pool, I think 5th floor or above would keep you above any noise during the day
